Description

The invention relates to an image transmission system in surgical lights, in particular a camera system, which records image signals so that the images can currently be made visible or archived.

DE-PS 10 81 302, DE-Anmeldung Q 279 und DE GBM 88 14 303.1)Recording devices or camera systems are used in operating rooms for a variety of purposes. First of all, for the self-control surgeon there is a need to document his own work, i.e. to record. However, the essential task is to transfer or record an operation for teaching purposes. Prospective surgeons should learn as much as possible about an operation. In the operating room, however, only a few can be tolerated for the purpose of learning. The presence of many spectators now contradicts the asepsis requirement, which is an essential prerequisite for the operation. Therefore, according to DE-PS 1 102 673 surgical theater for students had been set up. But even with this solution, the number of students is limited. Now to listeners, e.g. Students to be able to demonstrate the operation outside the operating room have been proposed to install television or video cameras inside the operating light because the lighting optics are also the best viewing optics (cf. DE-PS 10 81 302, DE application Q 279 and DE GBM 88 14 303.1)

Previous television cameras with picture tubes require a large volume, which makes the surgical light bulky, heavy and therefore difficult to operate. The high temperatures occurring inside an operating light require a cooling device for a television camera installed inside an operating light, which in turn leads to an increase in the weight of the entire system, which counteracts the ease of operation of the operating light by the surgeon. Other disadvantages arise from the size of the lenses and other cameras units that previously took up the space of a headlamp for the operating light and thus the illumination of the operating field has deteriorated. This even applies to modern miniature cameras.

The object of the present invention is to provide an image transmission system in connection with operating lights which does not impair the essential function of any operating light. The solution to this problem generally consists in accommodating only those parts of a video camera in the operating room lamp which only acquire the optical signal and convert it into an electrical signal. Then this extremely simple electrical signal is immediately transmitted wirelessly over a short distance from the operating theater lamp to a receiver that contains all other parts of a camera system such as formalizing, processing the image signal in accordance with standards, etc.

According to the invention, the camera system consists of a lens, a recording chip, a converter, a small transmitter for wireless transmission of the raw raw video signals, a receiver, a demodulator and processing camera electronics. The processing electronics are installed separately from the recording chip in the luminaire body or outside the luminaire body. By attaching the processing camera electronics outside the lamp body, the weight of the entire camera system is not additionally burdened and the overall volume of the operating theater lamp can be reduced. In addition, sensitive image conversion electronics and OR lighting systems do not interfere with each other. The sound can be transmitted from a second internal transmitter that an operating person with a microphone wears on the body. The image and sound signal are then combined in the receiver. The microphone and / or transmitter can also be attached anywhere else in the operating room.

The optical camera device and the recording chip can be integrated into the operating light in an optimal position in relation to the operating field.
Further details, features and advantages result from the following description of the embodiment shown in the drawing.

The arrangement of the complete camera system according to the invention of an operating room lamp is shown semi-schematically in FIG. Image information of an image field 40 is recorded via an optical lens 12. An electronic recording chip 14 converts the image information arriving as photons into measurable voltage differences in the individual pixels. Such information is modulated in a converter 16 into carrier frequencies (e.g. high frequency, infrared, ultrasound) radiating into space. The information thus modulated is transmitted via one or more transmitters 18 and an antenna 19 to processing camera electronics 20 via an antenna 19A, a receiver 21 and a demodulator 23. From the processing camera electronics 20, various devices such as e.g. a screen 24, a video tape 26 or a computer 28 for image processing.

The camera system 10 according to the invention shown in FIG. 1 is distinguished according to the invention by the small sizes of the individual camera elements, such as the recording chip 14, the converter 16, the transmitter 18 and the processing camera electronics 20. This ensures according to the invention that previously unused small cavities within an operating light 32 can be used for a camera system. As a result, no lamp body 30 has to give way to a camera system for reasons of space.

According to the invention, the camera electronics 20 to be processed and the demodulator are arranged outside the operating light 32 for reasons of space and weight savings and for reasons of interference immunity and image quality. The processing camera electronics 20 can be located in the operating room or outside the operating room. The arrangement of the processing camera electronics 20 and the receiver unit, such as a screen 24 within the operating room, is used by the operating physicians to control the operational steps that have been carried out. If the operation recorded with the camera system unit 10 according to the invention is to be followed by persons not involved in the operation, the processing camera electronics 20 are arranged outside the operating room, together with the screen 24 or the like. Another advantage of the invention is that the transmission cable 22 is difficult to keep sterile inside half of the operating room are no longer necessary.
By eliminating the cables 22, an unrestricted movement of the suspension of the surgical light is possible in all directions. The heat load within the operating theater lamp also decreases in this arrangement of the camera system 10 according to the invention.

The sound emitted by a microphone and transmitter (not shown), for example the explanations of the operating doctor or a participant in a teaching position, is also fed to the reception system and is combined there with the image signal in such a way that image and sound can be recorded and reproduced in accordance with customary standards.
