Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a garment packaging device, in particular for shipping or transport, avoiding folding it several times and being crumpled.

The invention applies more particularly to cardboard boxes for shipments to customers of clothing, and possibly for their return if the customer so decides, but it also applies to suitcases, bags and the like for the transport of clothing.

For the sending of clothes, in particular jackets, pants, suits, dresses, from a mail order company to its customers, or the delivery of these in a store to a customer, the clothes are folded in several places , possibly placed inside a plastic cover, and placed in a cardboard box in the shape of a relatively flat rectangular parallelepiped. The garment, whether or not in a cover, is not maintained and when it is transported, for example by post or by a road truck, undergoes settling and subsidence on itself and risks being wrinkle or even curl up.

With regard to suitcases or bags, devices are known which consist of a hanger fixed to one end of one of the two parts of the suitcase or bag, namely the end which occupies the high position when the suitcase or bag is in the upright position, this hanger used to keep the shoulders of the jacket or dress in its width.

Generally the height of the bag or suitcase, when standing, is insufficient to avoid having to fold one or more times the jacket or dress. Therefore, even when using a suitcase or bag with a built-in hanger, you risk seeing the garment settle, sag or even curl up during the trip.

To remedy these drawbacks and keep a garment, in particular a jacket or a dress, in a fixed position in a suitcase, avoiding its packing, wrinkling and / or balling, it has already been proposed to make this suitcase understand removable bar extending in the vicinity of the bottom of the bag, parallel to the fold line of the cover.

This bar generally has a small diameter, of the order of 1 to 2 cm, and its removable mounting in the suitcase generally involves the cooperation of buttons attached to the ends of the bar with slots hollowed out in special fittings reported to the inside the suitcase.

Said bar and its mounting fittings are relatively expensive and they cannot be used in cardboard boxes or the like.

The object of the invention is, above all, to remedy these drawbacks.

To this end, the packaging devices of the kind in question according to the invention also comprise an open container in the form of a relatively flat rectangular parallelepiped with a bottom and four vertical side walls, one of which can be folded around its straight base, a folding cover around the upper edge of the foldable wall of the container and a hanger fixed in the container near the wall of this container, the most distant from its foldable wall and they are essentially characterized in that they further comprise, of a on the one hand, a cardboard roll whose diameter is greater than half the height of the container and less than this height and, on the other hand, formed in the internal face of each of the two walls, of the container, contiguous to its foldable wall , near the latter, a U-shaped notch open at the top and suitable for receiving in a contiguous and easily removable way one of the two ends of the cardboard roll.

Thanks to this combination of hanger and roller, it suffices, after opening the container and removing the roller from its notches, to place the upper part of the garment, in particular the shoulders of a jacket or dress, on the hanger , to spread the garment in the open container, to place the roller in its notches, to fold the lower part of the garment around the roller and to close the container.

Once it is closed, the garment is held in place by the combination of the hanger and the roller which can no longer escape from its notches due to the closure of the container, which blocks the roller in position in its notches.

According to the invention and more particularly according to that of its modes of application, as well as those of the embodiments of its various parts, to which it seems that there is reason to be given preference, proposing, for example, to make a device for packaging a garment, in particular for its shipment or transport, it is done as follows or analogously.

Referring first to FIG. 1, it can be seen that the device according to the invention is applied there to a shipping cardboard box 1 having the shape of a flat rectangular parallelepiped and comprising two elements, or halves, opposite 2 and 3, the element 3, which forms a cover, which can be applied to the element 2, which forms a container, by virtue of two straight lines of parallel folding 4 and 11 defining the two horizontal edges of a side wall 12, foldable, common to the cover and to the container.

The device according to the invention comprises a hanger 5, fixed at 5a to the end 6 of the container 2 opposite the wall 12, and an elongated cylindrical roller 7, which can be accommodated in two housings or notches 8 and 9 arranged in the vicinity of the fold 4.

More precisely,
- the roll 7 is a large cardboard roll whose outside diameter D is greater than half the height H of the box -height which is also the height of the flat vertical walls surrounding the tank 2 or the cover 3 (see Figure 3 ) - and of course less than this height,
- each notch 8, 9 is hollowed out in the inner face of a side wall, of the container, which is perpendicular to the fold line 4, in the immediate vicinity of this line 4, and has, seen in the direction of the axis of the roller 7, the shape of a U open upwards, the width of this notch being equal to the outside diameter D of said roller.

By way of nonlimiting example, the values of D and H are respectively of the order of 4 and 7 cm.

With the device described above, the procedure is as follows:

First we open the cardboard box completely 1 to bring it into the position illustrated in FIG. 1.

The roller 7 is removed from its housings 8 and 9.

The jacket V (or other garment) is then placed flat in the open box, with the upper part (shoulders) in place on the hanger 5, as illustrated in FIG. 1.

The roller 7 is then replaced in the notches 8 and 9 and the arrangement illustrated in FIG. 1 is exactly obtained.

Then we begin to close the cardboard box, passing through the intermediate position illustrated in Figure 2, and we continue to close the cardboard by moving the bottom 2 towards the cover 3 in the direction of the arrow F, until closing complete.

When the cardboard is completely closed, the garment, in particular the jacket, is perfectly accommodated in the cardboard box 1 while being held by the combination of the hanger 5 and the roller 7, the latter being unable to come out of its housings 8 and 9 when the two elements 2 and 3 are joined.

As a variant, it is possible, from the position of the completely open box illustrated in FIG. 1, to fold the lower part of the jacket over the upper part, then fold the cover 3 over the bottom 2 in order to close the cardboard box .

Once closed, the cardboard box is treated as usual, wrapping it in wrapping paper and / or wrapping it in twine, which permanently ensures that the roll 7 is kept in position in the notches 8 and 9 and therefore maintaining the garment in the correct position in the cardboard box.

Upon receipt, simply open the cardboard box through the position of Figure 2, to lead to that of Figure 1. It is then easy to remove the roller 7 from its notches 8 and 9, then take the garment out of the box, noting that it is impeccable, thanks to the implementation of the device according to the invention.

The hanger 5 is preferably made of cardboard, like the box and the roll.

Instead of being made entirely of cardboard, the packaging could be made at least in part of other materials, comprising for example a rigid or semi-rigid plastic belt and flexible plastic and / or textile trays, a slight deformability of these plates being advantageous to take account of the thickness of the garment wound on the roller, which is pinched locally between this roller and the facing portions of the two plates.

The notches 8, 9 formed in the walls of the tank 2 are open towards the inside of these walls and upwards, but do not pass through these walls right through: if therefore they are directly hollowed out in the simple thickness of the walls, this thickness must be sufficient for there to remain a continuous vertical partition at the bottom of each notch, each wall being constituted in particular by several sheets of parallel cardboard and the notch bottom partition by such a single sheet of cardboard.

As it goes without saying, the invention is in no way limited to the modes of application and embodiments which have been more especially envisaged; on the contrary, it embraces all of its variants, in particular those where the notches 8, 9 would not be hollowed out in relatively thick side walls of the container 2, but delimited by small cardboard prisms 10 (FIG. 2) extending over the entire height of these walls and projecting internally therefrom.
