Abstract
The present invention relates to a washing machine including means for recycling the washing water.
The washing machine comprises a basket (3) provided,on the surface of the annular element forming it, with a plurality of suitably shaped recesses (7,14).
These recesses (7,14) are specifically designed for raising from the basin the washing water as the basket is rotated either in the clockwise or in the anticlockwise direction.
The recesses (7,14), moreover, are provided with at least a throughgoing nozzle (11) by means of which the washing water can be delivered to the basket rain-wise.
Description
- The present invention relates to a washing machine provided with a basket formed by a perforated cylinder having a suitably machined surface.
- As is known,washing machines generally comprise means for recycling,during the washing step,the cleaning solution held in the basin.
- In particular,washing machines are known which comprise a recovery device consisting essentially of a pump coupled to a sucking duct and a delivery duct, which latter opens toward the machine basket.
- This recovery device,however,is of complex and expensive construction and not completely reliable in operation.
- In the Italian copending Application N⁰ 22,263 A/86 in the name of the same Applicant there is disclosed a recycling device,mainly of the mechanical type, comprising a plurality of buckets affixed to the basket or formed in single piece therewith,at the loading opening side,or at the opposite side.
- This device,on the other hand,is affected by problems relating to the coupling of its component parts,which are subjected to great stresses, particularly during the centrifugation step.
- Accordingly,the task of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks,by providing a washing machine comprising a basket including means for efficiently recycling the cleaning solution used for cleaning purposes.
- Within the scope of the above mentioned task, a major object of the present invention is to provide such a basket for washing machines which is very simple construction-wise.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a washing machine,including a suitably designed basket,which has a high washing efficiency with respect to conventional washing machines.
- According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned task and objects,as well as yet other objects,which will become more apparent hereinafter,are achieved by an improved washing machine characterized in that said washing machine comprises a basket provided,on the surface of the annular element forming said basket,with a plurality of shaped recesses adapted to raise from the basin the washing water during the rotation either in the clockwise or in the anticlockwise direction of said basket,said recesses being moreover provided with at least a throughgoing nozzle adapted to deliver rain-wise into said basket said washing water.
- Further characteristics and advantages of the improved washing machine according to the present invention will become more apparent hereinafter from the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof being illustrated,by way of an indicative but not limitative example,in the figures of the accompanying drawings,in which:
- figure 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the washing machine according to the invention;
- figure 2 is a partially cross-sectioned front view of the subject washing machine which,as it should be apparent,may be either of the front loading type or of the side loading type;
- figure 3 is a schematic partial perspective view of the basket included in the washing machine according to the invention;
and - figures 4,5 and 6 show possible section member types to be associated with the cylindrical wall of the basket.
- With reference to the figures of the accompanying drawings,the improved washing machine according to the present invention comprises a
frame 1 supporting awashing basin 2 therein there is rotatably supported a washing basket 3. - More specifically,the basket 3 is rotatively driven by an
electric motor 4,through a conventional driving system comprising adriving belt 5 engaging on apulley 6 coaxially mounted with respect to the basket. - The washing basket 3 consists of a right cylindrical element the surface of which has been machined,according to the invention,so as to define a plurality of projecting portions directed outwardly and/or inwardly from the cylindrical surface.
- In detail,on the mentioned cylindrical surface,which has been indicated overally at the
reference number 8,there are provided a plurality ofrecesses 7,which,with respect to theinner face 9 of said surface,have arespective bottom 10 which may be either aligned or radially outwardly offset. - As clearly shown in figures 4 and 5,the
recessses 7 are defined by pairs ofportions 14 projecting inwardly of the basket,or they are directly formed, as shown in figure 6,in the structure of said basket; in the latter case the projecting portions will project on the outside of the basket. - In this connection it should be pointed out that the mentioned
recesses 7 will have different shapes,so as to efficiently raise washing water,with the basket turning either in the clockwise or in the clockwise direction. - On the side faces 12 of the
recesses 7,and/or on thebottom 13 thereof,or on the walls of said recesses,indicated at 14,there are formed,at suitable positions,throughgoingnozzles 11 adapted to deliver washing water into the basket,even during the non beating step,as the driving force desappears and the remaining water,held in the recesses,is counterbiassed by the centrifugal force. - More specifically,the mentioned nozzles have axes which,in pairs,have opposite directions slanted with respect to the radial direction,so as to properly exploit the tangential peripheral speed vector of the basket,either in the clockwise or in the anticlockwise direction.
- Thus,owing to this provision,it will be possible to efficiently use the washing water radial streams entering the basket,during the water suction step of the basket.
- It should be pointed out that said nozzles are so designed and arranged as to hold the characteristic drawn shape adapted to not damage linen,while aiding washing water to enter the basket.
- Said nozzles,moreover,are so slanted that they do not generate any undercuts during the pressing of the metal band for forming the basket.
- According to a preferred embodiment of the invention,it is provided that the combination of the pluralities of recesses and nozzles be formed along
suitable seats 15,defined on theperipheral crown 8 of the basket,in a parallel direction to the axis of said basket. - In operation,the fretted shape of the mentioned crown will aid the raising of the washing water and the introduction of said water into said basket through the
nozzles 11. - Thus,owing to the provision of the recycling means according to the invention,the maximum level of the cleaning solution can be held at a smaller height than that of conventional washing machines.
- Accordingly the washing machine according to the present invention provides the advantage that it affords the possibility of obtaining great savings of water,power and cleaning solution,while providing a very efficient linen washing.
- Moreover,the washing machine of the invention, and its washing water recycling means are very simple construction-wise and of very reliable operation.
- As mentioned,the basket of the invention can be mounted both on front loading machines and on side loading machines.
- While the invention has been disclosed and illustrated with reference to a preferred embodiment thereof,it should be apparent that the disclosed embodiment is susceptible to several modifications and variations all of which will come within the scope and spirit of the accompanying claims.
