Dies bringt vom konstruktiven Aufbau her gegenüber den bisher üblichen mehrteiligen Betätigungseinrichtungen eine erhebliche Vereinfachung mit sich, die sich auch bei der Fertigung dieser Bauelemente auswirkt. Claims (10)

  1. A writing instrument, particularly a ballpoint writing instrument, comprising a reservoir (2) or the like which is received within a barrel (1) for longitudinal displacement between a retracted position and a writing position, a push button (3) for actuating the reservoir (2), and a shift device by means of which the reservoir (2) is moved between the said positions and in these positions is latchable with spring bias assistance (5), characterised in that the shift device comprises an insert (7) arranged fixedly within the barrel (1) and a movable actuating device (4) which is preferably formed in one piece with the push button (3), wherein the actuating device (4) comprises at least one elastically deflectable component arranged to latch with the insert (7), and wherein the latching and unlatching movements of the said component are associated with respective different planes.

A writing instrument according to claim 1, characterised in that the actuating device (4) comprises a receiving device (18) for the reservoir (2) guided non-rotatably within the insert (7), and in which there is secured to the receiving device (18) both a connecting rod (17) which is connected to the push button (3) and also the said component which is constituted by a shift rod (19) and which is deflectable in two planes.
  3. A writing instrument according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that for latching with the insert (7) shift teeth (22,23) are fitted to or formed on the shift rod (19), with said shift teeth (22,23) being associated with respective different pivot planes, and wherein the shift teeth (22,23) are spaced from each other along the shift rod (19) which extends in the axial direction of the barrel (1).
  4. A writing instrument according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the pivot movements of the shift rod (19) are mutually barred.
  5. A writing instrument according to one of claims 2 to 4, characterised in that the insert (7) is formed by at least one curved control part (10) which serves for the deflection of the shift rod (19) as well as its latching in the writing position of the reservoir (2), and wherein the shift rod (19) is under elastic stress in the writing position.
  6. A writing instrument according to claim 5, characterised in that the curved control part (10)is provided with a groove (15) extending parallel to the axis for guidance of one of the shift teeth (22), as well as for the guidance of the actuating device (4) in the retracted position.
  7. A writing instrument according to one of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the actuating device (4) as well as the insert (7) are formed as injection moulded plastics parts.
  8. A writing instrument according to one of claims 1 to 7, characterised in that the axial displaceability of the actuating device (4) is limited on the one hand by a cam (25) cooperating with the insert (7) and formed on the connecting rod (17) and on the other hand by one of the shift teeth (23) in combination with the insert (7).
  9. A writing instrument according to one of claims 1, 2 or 4 to 7, characterised in that for the latching with the insert (7) a shift tooth (32) is fitted to or formed on the connecting rod (19), with said shift tooth (32) being dimensioned and positioned for the deflection.
  10. A writing instrument according to claim 9, characterised in that the axial displaceability of the actuating device (4) is limited on the one hand by a protuberance (31) cooperating with the insert (7) and formed on a section (29) of the push button (3) and on the other hand by the radial dimension of the push button (3) in combination with the barrel (1).
