Abstract

An installation for producing steel band comprises a steel-band casting mould (1), a set (2, 3) of rolls for compressing and welding together the strand shells solidifying at the broad sides of the band, and guide rolls (4, 5, 6) for diverting the steel band to a horizontally arranged driving and straightening device (7). To create a simple installation which has a low overall height and is operationally reliable, for the economical production of high-quality steel band, the guide rollers (4, 5, 6) form a unilateral guide track extending with a clearance around a pressing roll (3) and towards the driving and straightening device (7). <IMAGE>

Als zusätzlicher Schutz vor der Strahlungshitze des Stahlbandes 14 ist zwischen diesem und der Presswalze 3 ein Hitzeschild 19 angeordnet. Claims (6)

  1.   2. Plant according to claim 1, characterised thereby that the radius of curvature of the guide path formed by the guide rolls (4, 5, 6) is smaller than 800 millimetres.
  3. Plant according to claims 1 and 2, characterised thereby that a heat shield (19) is arranged between the press roll (3) and the guide rollers (4, 5, 6).
  4. Plant according to claim 3, characterised thereby that the heat shield (19) is a cooled steel plate.
  5. Plant according to claim 1, characterised thereby that spacing transmitters (20) for detection of the position of the steel strip (14) are arranged between the guide rollers (4, 5, 6).
  6. Method for the operation of a plant according to one or more of claims 1 to 5, characterised thereby that the intake speed, which is regulated according to the extraction speed of the press rolls (2, 3), is corrected when deviations of the steel strip (14) from the target position at the guide rollers (4, 5, 6) occur.
