- axle pin is namely rigidly connected at the end to the needle shaft cheeks, for example screwed or welded (DE-PS 1296 734), which results in a rigid and completely inelastic tongue bearing arrangement transverse to the axis of symmetry of the needle, which was identified as the cause of premature jaw fractures.
- tongue needles are used almost consistently in practice, in which the needle tongue with its bearing bore is pivotally mounted on two bearing pins pressed out of the material of the needle shaft cheeks (US Pat. No. 3,934,109; GB Pat. No. 836,297). Because of the unpredictable flow behavior of the material of the needle shaft cheeks pressed into the bearing bore of the tongue, the bearing pins produced by an embossing process and connected to the needle shaft cheeks are more or less irregular on their outer surface, with the result that the area bearing portion of the needle tongue on the bearing pins is also one brand new needle is relatively small.

- the tongue with its bearing bore is perfectly positioned with the largest possible area traa fraction and thus correspondingly small specific pivot bearing surface loads.
- the fixing elements deformed into the bore of the needle shaft cheeks ensure that the axle bolt does not slide outwards over time and can endanger the tongue in its storage. Since the needle shaft cheeks are not rigidly connected to the axle bolt, they can be elastically cussofted laterally transversely to the plane of symmetry, so that a corresponding one crosses the needle Effective elasticity is guaranteed and fractures of the needle shaft cheeks are reliably prevented.
- annular material bead is formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks as the fixing element.
- the fixing elements are axially spaced from the adjacent end faces of the axle bolt, so that an inward elastic movement of the needle shaft cheeks is possible without hindrance if necessary.
- axle bolt with its end faces pointing outwards, lies essentially in the half of the bore in the needle shaft cheeks adjacent to the longitudinal slot.
- the latch needle has a needle shaft 1, on which a hook 2 is integrally formed at one end and which can carry feet, not shown, which interact in a known manner with lock parts of knitting machines etc.
- a tongue 5 is pivotally mounted, which at one end carries a tongue spoon 7 covering the hook tip 6 in the closed position shown and whose shaft 8 fitted into the longitudinal slot 3 with parallel flanks has a bearing bore 9.
- a transverse bore 12 is formed in each case which is coaxial with the pivot axis of the tongue 5 indicated at 11, into which a smooth-walled cylindrical axle bolt 13 crossing the longitudinal slot 3 is inserted in the sliding seat.
- the tongue with its bearing bore 9 is supported with a small radial bearing clearance, which corresponds, for example, to a diameter difference of + 0.001 mm and less.
- the axle pin 13 lies with its outwardly facing parallel end faces 14 in the half of the respective bore 12 adjacent to the longitudinal slot 3, it being in the illustrated embodiment roughly to the middle of the hole depth. It is axially fixed in the bores 12 by fixing elements projecting into these bores, which are located in the vicinity of the free end faces 14 of the axle bolt 13 and are 10-shaped from the material of the needle shaft cheeks. In the exemplary embodiment shown, these fixing elements are each in the form of an annular material bead 15, which lies at a small axial distance 16 from the adjacent end faces 14 of the axle bolt 13.
- the needle shaft cheeks 10 can deflect elastically laterally if they are subjected to a corresponding alternating load during operation. This eliminates the risk of broken jaws.
- finger-like or tooth-like fixing elements could also be provided, which are formed in the material of the needle shaft side cheeks 10 by an embossing process and project into the bores 12 in a corresponding manner.

Description
The invention relates to a latch needle for textile machines, with a pivotable in a longitudinal slot of the needle shaft, which is pivotally mounted by means of a continuous bearing bore on a one-piece, cylindrical axle bolt, which is inserted into corresponding coaxial bores of the needle shaft cheeks laterally delimiting the longitudinal slot and fixed securely in this is.
Tongue needles of this type are used in various textile machines, in particular in knitting and knitting machines, but also, for example, in special sewing machines.
High requirements are generally placed on the storage of the tongue with regard to mechanical resilience and accuracy of the tongue guidance, in particular when the latch needles work in high-speed knitting machines or when knitting robust yarns. The wedge effects caused by the tongue during the knitting process on the needle shaft cheeks delimiting the longitudinal slot try to spread them apart, while the same strong lever forces on the axle bolts are effective at an early stage.
The storage of the tongue by means of its bearing bore on the smooth cylindrical surface of a continuous axle bolt results in a very precise and wear-resistant tongue guide. Nevertheless, latch needles with such continuous axle bolts are almost meaningless today because they suffer from broken jaws when subjected to high, particularly dynamic loads. The axle pin is namely rigidly connected at the end to the needle shaft cheeks, for example screwed or welded (DE-PS 1296 734), which results in a rigid and completely inelastic tongue bearing arrangement transverse to the axis of symmetry of the needle, which was identified as the cause of premature jaw fractures. To this day, therefore, tongue needles are used almost consistently in practice, in which the needle tongue with its bearing bore is pivotally mounted on two bearing pins pressed out of the material of the needle shaft cheeks (US Pat.
The object of the invention is therefore to remedy this situation and to create a latch needle which on the one hand has the advantages with regard to accuracy and wear resistance of the tongue bearing of a latch needle provided with a continuous axle bolt and on the other hand also maintains its full usability over long periods of operation without the risk of the occurrence of broken jaws.
To achieve this object, the latch needle mentioned at the outset is characterized according to the invention in that the length of the axle pin is less than the needle shaft thickness at the tongue bearing point and the axle pin with its outwardly facing end faces lies in the depth of the holes in the needle shaft cheeks and that the material of the needle shaft cheeks is made of the material in the bore protruding fixing elements for the axle bolt are formed, which are close to the free end faces of the axle bolt.
On the smooth cylindrical outer surface of the one-piece axle pin, the tongue with its bearing bore is perfectly positioned with the largest possible area traa fraction and thus correspondingly small specific pivot bearing surface loads. The fixing elements deformed into the bore of the needle shaft cheeks ensure that the axle bolt does not slide outwards over time and can endanger the tongue in its storage.
In a preferred embodiment, an annular material bead is formed from the material of the needle shaft cheeks as the fixing element. In addition, it is often expedient if the fixing elements are axially spaced from the adjacent end faces of the axle bolt, so that an inward elastic movement of the needle shaft cheeks is possible without hindrance if necessary.
Finally, it has proven to be advantageous if the axle bolt, with its end faces pointing outwards, lies essentially in the half of the bore in the needle shaft cheeks adjacent to the longitudinal slot.

- Fig. 2, the latch needle of Fig. 1, cut along the line II-II of Fig. 1 in a side view and on a different scale.
The latch needle has a needle shaft 1, on which a
The
Instead of the
