Abstract

The cutting and pinching device is fixed onto one of the bases (13) which are distributed on the star-configured support element (12) in each of two reels of the winder. When the empty reel comes into the winding position, the extreme portion (42) of the product to be wound passes into a position tangential to the flap (17) opposite the blade (30) of the cutter. When the jack (24) is actuated so as to bring the flap (17) back into a position parallel to the corresponding sector (14), the extreme portion of the elongate product is pressed against the cutter (30) while the pinching lever (32) is lowered onto the initial segment of the elongated material adjacent to the extreme portion. The initial segment is pinched against the interior face of the barrel segment (19) and passes between this barrel segment and the adjacent segment in order to wind the barrel and permit the formation of the new reel (41). <IMAGE>
