Abstract

A nucleation development control agent that is an iso­ thiuronium compound or a free mercaptan aids nucleation development in a negative working photographic silver halide material comprising a nucleating agent. The nuclea­ tion development control agent helps increase image dis­ crimination and helps reduce image development spread beyond unexposed grains in close proximity to exposed silver halide grains. The nucleation development control agent can be in this photographic material and or in an aqu­ eous silver halide developer solution for use in nucleation development of the imagewise exposed photographic mat­ erial.
