Definitions
- the invention relates to a flat, rectangular protective cover made of rigid plastic material according to the preamble of claim 1.
- protective covers of this type were produced in two pieces, namely from an upper side plate and a lower side plate, which were then suitably connected to one another, preferably by welding, adhesive or snap connections. Examples of this are the applicant's German utility models 8 208 340 and 8 226 430 and US Pat. No. 4,141,400. It has been found, however, that the twists between the top plate and the underside plate of these known protective covers become loose during use. It should be borne in mind here that protective covers of this type are often carried in wallets, back pockets, etc. and are therefore frequently subjected to bending stress during use. Such protective sleeves must not be too rigid to be able to adapt to the shape of the bag to a certain extent during use. On the other hand, they should protect the card stored in it well from damage and in particular from kinking. This is particularly important today because recently such cards have also been equipped with magnetic stripe codes that only work if the card is not kinked or otherwise damaged.
- the FR-PS-1 329 029 describes a one-piece injection molded plastic, which is designed without a handle opening. It has a through hole in its upper part for a pendant chain or the like. During the injection molding process, this through hole is produced by inserting retaining pins in both molded parts, which then prevent the mold cavity from filling in its area.
- the trailer has a cavity open to the underside, which is created during the spraying process by a corresponding slide. This is held in the mold itself by means of an extension on its front side and by means of the two holding pins which rest against the extension and on its rear side by the two mold halves. However, there is no provision for separately absorbing the forces acting on the surface of the slide during the injection molding process.
- GB-PS-599 570 describes the production of an eyeglass temple which consists of a metal wire which is encapsulated with plastic. During the spraying process, the holding pins on the wire lie opposite one another in pairs on the top and the bottom of the wire. These are withdrawn during the last spraying phase and therefore cannot and should not hold the wire bracket effectively during the critical final phase of the spraying process.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of designing it in such a way that, with simple and inexpensive manufacture of the protective cover, it has an optimal use value has and in particular cannot be damaged even after prolonged use. It is intended to protect the card stored in it well from damage and yet be flexible to a certain extent.
- the solution to this problem is obtained with the features of claim 1.
- the slide is therefore first inserted into the mold cavity and held there by means of the retaining pins. If the plastic material is then injected into the mold cavity with high pressure, the slide retains its position, once determined, despite the high pressures which occur and the large area of the slide, measured by its relatively small thickness. The slide therefore no longer tends to vibrate during the spraying process, rather it retains its position very precisely once it has been set.
- the holding pins of the injection mold are pulled back again and form the holding openings mentioned in the material of the protective cover. If the material has solidified sufficiently, which is accelerated by cooling, the slide can be moved back into its starting position from the mold cavity and the finished injection molding is ejected from the mold. The next spraying process can now begin.
- the holding openings mentioned should be as small as possible in order to impair the appearance of the finished protective cover as little as possible. However, they should be large enough so that the holding pins can exert sufficient holding force on the slide. Because the holding openings are aligned with one another, the slide is, as it were, held between a pair of the holding pins.
- the holding openings are distributed over the surface of the plastic plates in such a way that on the one hand the surface of the holding openings is as small as possible and on the other hand the slide is adequately held over its entire surface. It may be sufficient if the holding openings are formed only in the edge region of the protective cover, where they are the least disruptive. However, it is preferred if, in addition to the edge region, at least one, preferably a plurality of holding openings are also provided in the central region of the protective cover.
- a slot-like design of the holding openings is also preferred because it visually corresponds best to the elongated design of the protective cover and still offers the necessary area for the holding pins to pass through.
- the already existing handle opening in one of the plastic plates of the protective cover can also be designed as such a holding opening, in which case at least one of the holding openings in the material of the other plastic plate is formed directly opposite the handle opening.
- openings designed as slots are provided on the rear end edge of the protective cover. These do not disturb the visual appearance of the protective cover because they practically do not appear on the rear edge of the front. They also cause the air to flow in as soon as the slide begins to pull out.
- the openings could alternatively also be formed on the top plate and / or on the underside plate of the protective cover or also on the lateral edges of the protective cover, provided that they are only formed, as mentioned above, in the rear area of the protective cover. A single opening of this kind could even be sufficient, which is then also to be made in the rear region of the protective cover.
- the cards to be kept in the protective cover often have a magnetic stripe code.
- at least one channel-like recess is provided in the top plate and / or bottom plate of the protective cover, which extends in the direction of insertion of the card. This not only saves material, but the plate in question of the protective cover becomes more flexible.
- no depressions were provided in the plates for the same purpose, but rather elevations which not only consume more material, but above all require additional thickness.
- one of the plates protrudes a small amount beyond the other plate at the insertion opening. This makes it easier to insert the cards into the protective cover.
- edges of the plates are rounded at the insertion opening.
- At least one card is stored in the protective cover according to the invention.
- two cards can also be kept in it.
- guide rails are provided approximately centrally on the inner sides of the side edges of the protective cover, which divide the interior of the protective cover into an upper and a lower receiving space for one piece of document.
- One of these crotch pieces will be one of the cards mentioned and the other crotch piece is either such a card or an operating manual or the like.
- the guide rails preferably taper towards the center and possibly also towards the insertion side in order to support the insertion of the two pieces of documents and to separate them well.
- an important embodiment is characterized in that at least one tongue protruding into the displacement path of the card is provided in the rear region of the protective cover.
- the protective cover has two receiving spaces, it is preferred if handle openings which are surrounded on all sides by the material are provided in both plastic plates and are arranged offset in the transverse direction to one another. This makes it easier to slide out either the top or bottom of the cards individually with your thumb as needed.
- ABS is preferred as the material for producing the protective cover according to the invention. This is a special polystyrene.
- the protective cover shown in Fig. 1 to 5 is injection molded in one piece. It consists of a top plate 1 and a bottom plate 2, which are connected to one another at three edges. The fourth edge 3 is open, as a result of which the receiving space 4 is then freely accessible.
- an elongated grip hole 5 is also provided off-center.
- FIG. 3 shows in particular that a plurality of channel-like depressions 6 are formed next to one another in the underside plate. These protect one or more magnets located side by side bar code of the card in question.
- the underside plate 2 extends a little further towards the insertion opening 3 than the top plate 1.
- the edges at the insertion opening are rounded (see in particular FIG. 3).
- a plurality of slots 8 are provided next to each other on the rear edge opposite the insertion opening 3 and are also shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. They serve to ventilate and cool the receiving space 4 when a slide (not shown in the drawing) is pulled out of the receiving space 4 again after hardening of the plastic material during the injection molding process in the direction of arrow 9.
- the channel-like depressions 6 are also shown in FIG. 4.
- Cards stored in the protective cover according to the invention can also be provided with a data-processing electronic chip, because the active parts thereof are well protected by the depressions 6 and the eccentric arrangement of the grip hole 5.
- a card stored in the protective cover according to the invention cannot be damaged by bending. Rather, fail-safe operation of terminals and the like is possible throughout the life of the card. An inserted magnetic stripe or an electronic chip of this card is protected in such a way that it is not scratched or damaged by strong friction.
- the protective cover according to the invention is thus made in one piece from a rigid plastic material which has a very low elasticity and at the same time is so stiff that the card is always kept in a flat state.
- the plastic used is free of plasticizers, which additionally protects the card against plasticizer migration. Due to the extremely flat design of the card, it also has a long shelf life. This is particularly important because such cards are kept in purses, wallets and suit pockets and are exposed to heavy physical activity.
- the slots or openings 8 additionally serve to clean the inside of the protective cover by blowing out or with the aid of a needle or a similar tool.
- Figures 1 and 2 show that a plurality of holding openings 10 are formed in the top plate and bottom plate, which are shaped as short, elongated slots.
- three such holding openings are provided on each of the two longitudinal edges, which are mutually opposed in pairs in both plates, and at least one such holding opening in the middle. 2, this holding opening 10 is also formed as a short, elongated slot, which is opposite the handle opening 5 in the top plate according to FIG. 1.
- the slide forming the interior of the protective cover is fixed by holding pins which hold the slide between them in pairs in the area of the holding openings 10.
- the holding pins on one side are connected to one another via a plate, not shown in the drawing. The same applies to the holding pins on the other side.
- a resilient tongue 11 is provided in the underside plate (see Fig. 2). The inside of this protrudes into the interior of the protective cover and holds the cards stored in the protective cover there even with different thicknesses of the same.
- the function of the ventilation openings 8 can also be taken over by the holding openings 10, because these are formed over the entire area of the protective cover, i. H. also in the rear area of the protective cover.
- the protective cover designed to accommodate two cards or general pieces of documents according to FIGS. 6 to 8 is explained in more detail, which is also injection-molded in one piece. It differs from the protective cover designed for receiving a single card according to FIGS. 1 to 5 essentially by lateral, triangular profiled guide rails 12 which form an upper and lower receiving space for one piece of document.
- the protective cover is therefore also somewhat thicker. Their external dimensions are in the range of 5 mm and the interior is approx. 3 mm.
- tongue-like extensions 13 with leading edges are also provided in the rear area of the protective cover symmetrically to the longitudinal axis thereof.
- a single handle opening 5 is formed in one of the plates, but a total of two such handle openings, which are offset in the transverse direction to one another. Otherwise, the structure is basically the same.

Description
Die Erfindung betrifft eine flache, rechteckige Schutzhülle aus biegesteifem Kunststoffmaterial gemäß Oberbegriff des Anspruchs 1.The invention relates to a flat, rectangular protective cover made of rigid plastic material according to the preamble of
In the past, protective covers of this type were produced in two pieces, namely from an upper side plate and a lower side plate, which were then suitably connected to one another, preferably by welding, adhesive or snap connections. Examples of this are the applicant's
The FR-PS-1 329 029 describes a one-piece injection molded plastic, which is designed without a handle opening. It has a through hole in its upper part for a pendant chain or the like. During the injection molding process, this through hole is produced by inserting retaining pins in both molded parts, which then prevent the mold cavity from filling in its area. The trailer has a cavity open to the underside, which is created during the spraying process by a corresponding slide. This is held in the mold itself by means of an extension on its front side and by means of the two holding pins which rest against the extension and on its rear side by the two mold halves. However, there is no provision for separately absorbing the forces acting on the surface of the slide during the injection molding process.
During the spraying process, the holding pins on the wire lie opposite one another in pairs on the top and the bottom of the wire. These are withdrawn during the last spraying phase and therefore cannot and should not hold the wire bracket effectively during the critical final phase of the spraying process.
Die Lösung dieser Aufgabe erhält man mit den Merkmalen des Anspruchs 1.Starting from a protective cover of the type mentioned at the outset, which can also be found in the teaching of the already mentioned
During the spraying process, the slide is therefore first inserted into the mold cavity and held there by means of the retaining pins. After the spraying process, the holding pins of the injection mold are pulled back again and form the holding openings mentioned in the material of the protective cover. If the material has solidified sufficiently, which is accelerated by cooling, the slide can be moved back into its starting position from the mold cavity and the finished injection molding is ejected from the mold. The next spraying process can now begin.
The holding openings mentioned should be as small as possible in order to impair the appearance of the finished protective cover as little as possible. However, they should be large enough so that the holding pins can exert sufficient holding force on the slide. Because the holding openings are aligned with one another, the slide is, as it were, held between a pair of the holding pins.
The holding openings are distributed over the surface of the plastic plates in such a way that on the one hand the surface of the holding openings is as small as possible and on the other hand the slide is adequately held over its entire surface. It may be sufficient if the holding openings are formed only in the edge region of the protective cover, where they are the least disruptive. However, it is preferred if, in addition to the edge region, at least one, preferably a plurality of holding openings are also provided in the central region of the protective cover.
A slot-like design of the holding openings is also preferred because it visually corresponds best to the elongated design of the protective cover and still offers the necessary area for the holding pins to pass through.
The already existing handle opening in one of the plastic plates of the protective cover can also be designed as such a holding opening, in which case at least one of the holding openings in the material of the other plastic plate is formed directly opposite the handle opening.
It is preferred if a plurality of openings designed as slots are provided on the rear end edge of the protective cover. These do not disturb the visual appearance of the protective cover because they practically do not appear on the rear edge of the front. They also cause the air to flow in as soon as the slide begins to pull out. The openings could alternatively also be formed on the top plate and / or on the underside plate of the protective cover or also on the lateral edges of the protective cover, provided that they are only formed, as mentioned above, in the rear area of the protective cover. A single opening of this kind could even be sufficient, which is then also to be made in the rear region of the protective cover.
As already mentioned, the cards to be kept in the protective cover often have a magnetic stripe code. In order to protect it, it is preferred if at least one channel-like recess is provided in the top plate and / or bottom plate of the protective cover, which extends in the direction of insertion of the card. This not only saves material, but the plate in question of the protective cover becomes more flexible. In the prior art, no depressions were provided in the plates for the same purpose, but rather elevations which not only consume more material, but above all require additional thickness.
It is also preferred if one of the plates protrudes a small amount beyond the other plate at the insertion opening. This makes it easier to insert the cards into the protective cover.
It serves the same purpose if the edges of the plates are rounded at the insertion opening.
At least one card is stored in the protective cover according to the invention. However, two cards can also be kept in it. In this embodiment, guide rails are provided approximately centrally on the inner sides of the side edges of the protective cover, which divide the interior of the protective cover into an upper and a lower receiving space for one piece of document. One of these crotch pieces will be one of the cards mentioned and the other crotch piece is either such a card or an operating manual or the like. The guide rails preferably taper towards the center and possibly also towards the insertion side in order to support the insertion of the two pieces of documents and to separate them well.
In order to prevent the document or documents from accidentally falling out of the protective cover, an important embodiment is characterized in that at least one tongue protruding into the displacement path of the card is provided in the rear region of the protective cover.
If the protective cover has two receiving spaces, it is preferred if handle openings which are surrounded on all sides by the material are provided in both plastic plates and are arranged offset in the transverse direction to one another. This makes it easier to slide out either the top or bottom of the cards individually with your thumb as needed.
Dies ist ein spezielles Polystyrol.ABS is preferred as the material for producing the protective cover according to the invention. This is a special polystyrene.

Diese schützen einen oder mehrere nebeneinander befindliche Magnetstreifencode der betreffenden Karte.3 shows in particular that a plurality of channel-
According to the invention, a plurality of
The channel-
Cards stored in the protective cover according to the invention can also be provided with a data-processing electronic chip, because the active parts thereof are well protected by the
It can be seen that, due to the features described, a card stored in the protective cover according to the invention cannot be damaged by bending. Rather, fail-safe operation of terminals and the like is possible throughout the life of the card. An inserted magnetic stripe or an electronic chip of this card is protected in such a way that it is not scratched or damaged by strong friction.
The protective cover according to the invention is thus made in one piece from a rigid plastic material which has a very low elasticity and at the same time is so stiff that the card is always kept in a flat state. The plastic used is free of plasticizers, which additionally protects the card against plasticizer migration. Due to the extremely flat design of the card, it also has a long shelf life. This is particularly important because such cards are kept in purses, wallets and suit pockets and are exposed to heavy physical activity.
The slots or
Figures 1 and 2 show that a plurality of holding
During the spraying process, the slide forming the interior of the protective cover is fixed by holding pins which hold the slide between them in pairs in the area of the holding
It can be seen that the function of the
Ihre Außenabmessungen liegen im Bereich von 5 mm und der Innenraum beträgt ca. 3 mm.The protective cover designed to accommodate two cards or general pieces of documents according to FIGS. 6 to 8 is explained in more detail, which is also injection-molded in one piece. It differs from the protective cover designed for receiving a single card according to FIGS. 1 to 5 essentially by lateral, triangular profiled
Instead of the
In addition, in the second embodiment, not only a
