Abstract

A spray medium inset for a spraying pistol includes a spraying nozzle, and a needle for selectively closing the nozzle spray opening. The inset includes a connecting channel terminating in a cylindrical recess having an annular recess in the wall surrounding the cylindrical recess that snugly accommodates an annular ridge around the opening of a spray medium tank detachably secured to the connecting channel in the cylindrical recess. The connecting channel also includes a plug for normally keeping the spray opening closed with the jet needle. The tank has a concave bottom supporting a mixing shaft in a claw plug with a frangible annular zipper zone around the shaft. The mixing shaft is formed with a plug that engages a seat in the connecting channel bolt member that keeps the connecting channel closed and the spray opening closed with the shaft in its original extended position. A portion of the mixing shaft extends outside the concave bottom to function as a handle and extends into a hardener compartment containing hardener covered by a removable cover.

Description

The invention relates to an element for supplying spray material to a spray gun, in which the parts surrounding and guiding the spray means comprise a tank, a spray nozzle including a nozzle needle and a connecting channel in a web between the tank and the spray nozzle.

An element designed in this way for the supply of spray medium is known from WO 81/03 131. In the known element, all parts which come into contact with spraying agent during work form a structural unit which is held interchangeably on the spray gun. This design creates problems for the manufacturer and supplier of the spray medium inserts filled with the spray medium to the users of the spray pistols set up for the use of these elements. Where the spray is filled, special equipment is required to transport, fill, seal and pack the elements with their unusual shape in the system's flow streets and to package them for dispatch to consumers.

The inventors have set themselves the task of creating an element of the type described in the introduction, which is suitable for filling and packaging with conventional devices. This object is achieved in that a tight seat is provided at the entrance of the connecting channel, to which the tank can be connected as an exchangeable unit after opening its lid.

This provides the advantageous possibility that the tank can be designed as a simple conventional cylindrical can, for example with a diameter of 84 mm and a height of 130 mm, as is customary for paint cans.

All parts of the gun, which are wetted with the spray after work, should be thrown away and replaced with new parts, which are expediently so simple and cheap that the cost of their replacement is less than the cost of cleaning. For this purpose, according to the invention, the spray nozzle and the connecting channel with the seat for the tank at the entrance of the connecting channel are designed as a foot-shaped body which can be inserted into a slip shoe-shaped seat of the gun body. Such a foot, which is separate from the tank, can be used regularly over a longer working period if it is carried out without substantial interruption, so that this foot is used in conjunction with a whole series of paint cans which are also to be disposed of after use and thus the entire cost of the replacement be reduced from element and foot.

The foot is preferably provided with a funnel-shaped or cup-shaped upper part, with which it is put over the opened paint can from top to bottom after the correct dose of hardening agent has been introduced into the opened paint can and mixed thoroughly. The dose of hardener required for each paint can can be supplied in a small chamber, for example in the form of a can cap, which is attached to the bottom or the lid.

The foot may be made of plastic, while the paint can is conventional, e.g. made of metallic material.

The needle of the spray nozzle can be secured in the closed position, for example by a bolt, in such a way that the nozzle is only opened after the foot has been inserted and in the rhythm of the spraying work.

The elements described below are further developments of the storage container for spray guns designed by the applicants as a disposable unit in accordance with WO 81/03131. In order to facilitate comparison with the previous embodiments of such an element, parts of element and corresponding to one another are described below Gun the reference numbers from WO 81/03131 adopted. The essence of the earlier and likewise of the elements described here is that only those parts of the pistol are combined which would be wetted by the spray at work and would have to be cleaned during longer breaks due to the risk of solidification of the spray, in order to return to after the break To be able to use it. These include in particular the foot consisting of nozzle 6 and web 33 with connecting channel 30 to the nozzle on the one hand and tank 3 on the other hand. The spray gun shown in the drawing and the element are used to apply hardening, flowable substances (spray media), in particular a mixture of plastic and a plastic hardener on surfaces by means of a spray nozzle 6, which has a tank 3 for the spray medium and a feed line 4 on the handle 5 of the gun body can be connected to a compressed air source. The spray head 2 - cf. in particular Fig. 6 - contains a nozzle 6, the outlet opening voltage 7 locked at rest by the tip of a nozzle needle 8 and opened by withdrawing the needle. To supply the compressed air, 1 channels are provided in the gun body, which open into a distribution chamber 10 of the spray head 2 which encloses the front end of the nozzle 6. This distribution chamber is formed by the front of the gun body and a screw flap 11 with a central bore, which forms an annular opening with the nozzle end to produce a concentric atomizer for the spray. The omnidirectional jet produced in this way can be shaped by auxiliary jets inclined towards one another from two sides to form a flat jet with more or less great extent in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the drawing with an adjustable inclination to the plane of symmetry. For this purpose, the screw cap is provided with auxiliary channels directed from two sides against the omnidirectional jet. A spring 18 presses on the pin head via a pin 19. By pivoting a lever 20 in the direction of the arrow about an axis 21 and pivoting a driving fork 22 which is coupled to it and engages on the back of the needle head 10, the nozzle needle 8 can be retracted against the spring 18 and thereby the nozzle outlet opening 7 of the spray can can be released.

When the lever 20 is actuated, a needle valve in the connecting channel from the feed line 4 to the spray head 2 is also opened, preferably with a certain advance, so that the compressed air flow starts even before the spray nozzle opens. The spring 18 and the bolt 19 are arranged in a special housing part, the so-called closure cap 24, which can be folded down and which can be pulled off and folded down on a rod 25 with limit stop from the front housing part or gun body 1. The cap is provided with a handle 27. The closure cap 24 is secured in its working position by a stretch connection with plug pins 28 which engage in holes in the gun body 1 and a locking with a clamping lever 29.

Insoweit entspricht die Konstruktion derjenigen herkömmlicher Spritzpistolen (vgl. z.B. DE 2 412 743). In this respect, the construction corresponds to that of conventional spray guns (see e.g. DE 2 412 743). Deviating from this, the entirety of the parts enclosing and guiding the spray medium, consisting of the tank container 3, the spray nozzle 6 including the nozzle needle 8 and a connecting channel 30 in a web 33 between the reservoir 3 and the spray nozzle 6 is designed to be easily replaceable as an element.

The gun body 1 is provided with a slip shoe-shaped seat 32 for the element 31, and the transition from the tank 3 to the spray nozzle 6 is designed as a foot 33 (with sole and heel 35) which can be inserted into the seat 32. A pin 36 of the closure cap 24 engaging in the heel 35 serves to secure this foot in the working position. In element 31, nozzle 6 and web 33 with connecting channel 30 are made in one piece. The nozzle needle 8 is - fixed in the closed position, but retractable when used - in the nozzle 6. After the work is finished, the element 31 is thrown away, possibly also returned to the supplier for cleaning and reuse.

The tank 3 for the plastic K is provided with a small chamber 59 for the hardener to be introduced into the plastic before use.

The tank also contains a mixer 46/47 for plastic K and hardener H, consisting of a perforated disc 46 with a shaft 47.

The nozzle needle is provided with a piston 50 which, in the rest position, closes the connecting channel 30 between the tank 3 and the spray can 6 and, in the retracted working position, keeps the passage opening provided for the rear of the nozzle needle closed to the outside. The spray nozzle 6 is provided on the outside with a frontal collar with which it abuts against a stop with the gun body 1.

The tank 3 is a commercially available cylindrical can with a lid 61 and a bottom 62. This can is filled with paint, in particular plastic paint (without hardening agent), and is introduced as a separate insert into a sealing seat 60 of the gun. This seat 60 is located at the entrance of the connecting channel 30, which together with the spray nozzle 6 and its needle 8 forms the foot. To hold the tank 3, the foot at the entrance of the connecting channel 30 is provided with a funnel-shaped cup 58, which, when placed upside down, is placed on the open tank from top to bottom. Before removing the tank cap 61 (Fig. 1 must therefore be turned upside down), the hardening agent is introduced into the paint can by emptying the tube 64. After inserting the paint can and pressing in the shaft coupling with the coupling parts 47a and 47b, the whole thing is put upright again, the mixer handle (not shown in the drawing) is inserted, and after tearing the tear seam 70 in the flange 68, the mixture of paint and hardener is applied by and caused movement of the mixer.

When mixing, a flow of the spray medium to the nozzle 6 through a stopper 73 is excluded, which engages in the connecting channel 30 at the lower end of the mixer. When the mixing process has ended, the mixer is pulled up completely and its belly 74 is clamped in the lid or bottom 62 of the paint can. After the tank 3 has been emptied, it is thrown away with it or sent for recycling. The belly 74 consists of a group of ribs and is therefore permeable to air, so that the spray can be sucked out of the tank unhindered when the spray gun is actuated.

The bottom is curved inwards so that the end of the shaft does not protrude beyond the flat boundary surface of the cylindrical box.

Further embodiments of the insert are shown in Figs. 7-12.

Fig. 5 shows an embodiment with a mixer, which is provided with a separate shaft (not shown in the drawing), the introduced through an insertion 77 with tear seam 78 and can be coupled to the perforated disc 46 in the bowl 58.

In Fig. 10 ist ein Riegel 76c an einem hebelarmartigen Vorsprung 83 angebracht, der zur Freigabe von Düsennadel 8 durch einen Stift 36 der Verschlußkappe 24 gelöst wird.5, 9 and 10 also show means for locking the needle 8 in the nozzle 6 in its closed position, for example by a bolt 76a in FIG. 5 on the underside of the perforated disk 46, which engages in the groove 75 of the needle 8. In Fig. 9, the bolt 76b is connected to a lever arm 82 which protrudes from the nozzle body and is released when the element 31 is inserted, so that it releases the nozzle needle for actuation with reciprocation under the influence of the spring 18 of the gun. In Fig. 10, a bolt 76c is attached to a lever arm-like projection 83, which is released to release nozzle needle 8 by a pin 36 of the cap 24.

Various modifications and other designs are possible within the scope of the invention. So could paint cans of other designs, especially of the lid and bottom, such as. B. with a lid 61, which, as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, are provided with a ring pull closure 67. In particular in the case of spray guns for processing spraying agents which do not harden, the foot 33 could also be firmly integrated into the gun body, as in multi-colored spray guns.
