Description

The invention relates to a strip-shaped intermediate layer for fastening to an outer flat glass pane of a stack of flat glass panes according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the manufacture of flat glass on a float system, the float glass goes through various treatment stations where the glass is measured, sifted, cut, broken and finally sorted and stacked. Such a fully automatic stacking system as part of a float system uses, among other things. Suction cups that can be switched on and off to a vacuum source, in order to capture the flat glass panes in a horizontal position in which they are conveyed, to pivot them and to stack them on a bearing block in an approximately vertical position. The suction cups are then switched off so that the suction crossbars to which the suction cups are attached or similar supports can be pivoted back with the glass plate detached.

If a predetermined number of glass panes are stacked in this way, strip-shaped intermediate layers are spaced next to one another on an outer flat glass pane of the stack, by means of which this stack is separated from a next stack. The stack with the intermediate layers forms a glass package, the size and weight of which is limited by the carrying capacity and conveying capacity of a conveying means.

Specifically, 6 to 7 strip-shaped intermediate layers are fastened in parallel at a distance from one another on an outer flat glass pane. According to the prior art, the intermediate layers can consist of different materials, such as x • B. Wood, chipboard material, foams or paper honeycombs covered with kraft paper on both sides. The intermediate layers have a thickness of 10 to 40 mm, which depends on the intended further transport of the glass packages. The length of the strip-shaped intermediate layers is up to approx. 3,200 mm, while the width is dimensioned from 60 to 100 mm.

Adhesive strips have hitherto been used for fastening the intermediate layers to the outer flat glass pane. According to a conventional method, the intermediate layers are attached directly manually to the outer glass pane using the adhesive strips. This procedure is complex due to the associated personnel costs. In addition, the glass pane is soiled by the adhesive strips or permanent adhesive particles after the adhesive strips have been removed later. Therefore, the outer pane is e.g. to undergo an intensive and again complex cleaning process to form laminated panes or insulating glass.

The above-mentioned disadvantages can only be partially avoided by partial automation according to a likewise known method which makes use of a laying device for the intermediate layers. These laying devices belonging to the state of the art are set up in such a way that they can only ever take up a single intermediate layer and attach them to the outer flat glass pane by means of a double-sided adhesive strip. It is therefore also necessary here for personnel who, before inserting the respective intermediate layer into the laying device, must remove a protective film from the adhesive strip which was attached to the intermediate layer with an adhesive side. Many intermediate layers can be prepared and kept in stock in this way, however, automatic attachment of a number of intermediate layers without auxiliary personnel is not readily possible.

It is already known to connect protective and support blocks for attachment to glass panes with a suction cup or suction cup, which can adhere to the glass surface lying parallel to it (DE-GM 19 42 869). This is intended to eliminate the lengthy fastening of the protective and supporting block, which was previously necessary, by means of a cord or a rope. However, the person skilled in the art is not aware of the teaching as to whether and, if necessary, how individual suction cups can be used on strip-shaped intermediate layers in order to overcome the disadvantages of the previous intermediate layer fastenings described.

The present invention has for its object to form strip-shaped intermediate layers for attachment to an outer flat glass pane of a stack so that contamination of the flat glass panes by fastening strip-shaped intermediate layers is largely avoided and the laying of the intermediate layers is simplified for the purpose of automation.

This object is achieved by the invention specified in the characterizing part of claim 1.

The strip-shaped intermediate layers equipped in this way can be reliably fastened to the outer flat glass pane in a simple manner without any preparatory pulling off of a film and without auxiliary energy for generating a vacuum by simply pressing on. When the intermediate layers are subsequently removed, no residues remain, in particular no adhesive. The flat glass pane can therefore be processed further without extensive cleaning. The specified dimensioning of the suction cup in the recess ensures that the strip-shaped intermediate layer, similar to a fastening with adhesive strips, lies tightly against the outer flat glass pane.

The specified dimensioning also means that the suction cups protrude only slightly from the surfaces which laterally delimit the depression. The intermediate layers can thus be stored in a space-saving manner before they are attached.

When using porous material for the strip-shaped intermediate layers, a larger number of intermediate layers prepared with the suction cups can furthermore advantageously be stacked one above the other in a magazine in an adapted laying system. The strip-shaped intermediate layers prepared with the suction cups can thus be automatically installed over a long period of time without personnel or attached to the flat glass panes by means of the adapted laying device.

The elastic suction cups consist, for example, of natural or synthetic rubber and are shaped in the basically known manner similar to a hollow cone or a spherical cap, so that they can be pressed on of the suction cup on the flat glass pane, the air is squeezed out of the suction cup and, in the case of the elastic reforming tendency, a vacuum is automatically created in the cavity, as a result of which the adhesion to the flat glass pane is retained. This takes advantage of the fact that the flat glass pane has a flat, practically non-porous surface.

The combination of the suction cups with paper honeycombs glued on both sides with kraft paper is particularly expedient as the material of the intermediate layers, since the kraft paper has a relatively porous or rough surface to which the suction cups do not adhere. Therefore, several can with suction - wells provided strip-shaped intermediate layers of this material above the other in a magazine are stacked. These stacked intermediate layers are therefore only in loose connection with one another, so that they can be easily removed by machine and attached to the flat glass pane.

The paper honeycombs glued on both sides with kraft paper, which form the intermediate layers, also have the advantage with regard to the attachment of the suction cups that the depressions can be produced by simply pressing them in with the aid of a stamp, the cell walls of the paper honeycomb permanently compressing. In this case, no material-reducing processing is necessary to produce the recess. The suction cup can then be fastened in the depression and / or a cell cavity produced in this way by gluing or pressing in a suction cup with a correspondingly shaped lower edge.

The depressions and the suction cups fastened therein are expediently arranged along a row. At approximately Equidistant distribution of the depressions and suction cups can ensure a uniform adhesive effect over the length of the strip-shaped intermediate layer.

An embodiment of the strip-shaped intermediate layer according to the invention is explained below with reference to a drawing with two figures. It shows:
  • Fig. 1 is a liner provided with a suction cup in a perspective view from above and
  • Fig. 2 shows the intermediate layer of FIG. 1 in a side view.
  • In Fig. 1, a section of a strip-shaped intermediate layer is designated by 1. The intermediate layer consists of paper honeycombs 4 stuck on both sides with kraft paper 2, 3.

The intermediate layer has a depression 5, which is produced by pressing in the upper kraft paper and the part of the paper honeycomb located underneath by means of a stamp. The area 6 in FIG. 2 indicates how the paper honeycombs are compressed. - Instead of the recess shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, which is continuous across the width, the recess can also be pressed in only centrally in the middle of the strip-shaped intermediate layer, so that the recess has a closed edge which can increase the torsional rigidity of the intermediate layer. On the other hand, the intermediate layer only needs to be sufficiently rigid to be attached, since it adheres to the flat glass pane at several points and is no longer subjected to any significant bending stress. Then essentially only pressure loads occur which are reliably absorbed by the sections of the intermediate layers between the recesses.

An elastic suction cup 7 is mounted centrally in the recess 5. The elastic suction cup can be glued on - this is assumed in the drawing - but in other embodiments it can also be connected to the material in the depression by a push-button-like connection. For this purpose, the suction cup would have to be formed in its lower region with a circumferential projection, which can form a positive connection with an opening in the kraft paper layer 2.

Instead of a single suction cup provided in each recess, it is also possible to provide two or more smaller suction cups which have greater security when a suction cup is inoperative, for example as a result of undetected damage.

A preferred dimensioning of the suction cup is shown in relation to the depression in FIG. 2:
  • The depression has a depth V which is a fraction of the height or thickness H of the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer should be much stronger than the depression of the depression, so that sufficient strength properties are also provided in the area of the depression. The suction cup is dimensioned such that in the relaxed state, ie when it is not pressed against a flat glass pane, it has a height S which is somewhat greater than the depth V of the depression. Thus, the upper open side of the suction cup can safely come into contact with the flat glass pane and be deformed under pressure on the flat glass pane so that the suction cup completely withdraws into the recess. This means that the surface of the kraft paper 2 and an upper unspecified edge of the suction cup in one
Lay level, which is determined by the adhering flat glass.

By arranging a plurality of depressions and suction cups (not shown) in a row along an imaginary center line of the strip-shaped intermediate layer, the intermediate layer is reliably fastened to the flat glass pane.

When removing the strip-shaped intermediate layer with the suction cups, these leave practically no residue on the flat glass pane. For this reason, the flat glass pane does not need to be cleaned separately before further processing.

It is also noted that any cracks in the kraft paper and / or the paper honeycombs in the region of the recess 5 can only insignificantly reduce the strength properties of the intermediate layer, so that a strength which is certainly sufficient for the present application is retained.
