Description

The invention relates to an agitator for cylindrical containers filled with paints or varnishes according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such stirring elements have the disadvantage that they generally have to be made from spring steel and, because of their shape, allow intensive mixing only when the container is shaken several times. The design must also always be such that a certain wobble movement of the spiral spring piece is possible, because otherwise no significant mixing can occur in the areas between the outer circumference and the inner diameter of the container or inside the spiral spring piece. It is therefore also necessary to ensure that tolerances with regard to the outer diameter and the length of the wire piece are observed if tilting of the stirring element is to be avoided

Also known are stirring elements (DE-A-2 127 748) in which perforated disks or cross-shaped parts offset in the axial direction from one another surround a tubular inner part. This creates an organ that covers large areas of the cross section of the container during the shaking movement in the axial direction. It is disadvantageous, however, that this increases the resistance of the shaking device to axial movement and that relatively large contact surfaces arise between the lowest disc and the bottom of the container, to which sticking with the pigments of the lacquer can occur. It is then very difficult or even impossible to loosen.

There are therefore already known agitators of the type mentioned (US-A-3 738 760), in which the underside has been given a conical point to keep the contact with the underside of the container small. The end faces of the webs themselves are at a distance from the conical end of the hollow body, so that contact with the bottom of the container is excluded. These known types therefore do not tend to stick to the bottom of the container like the previously mentioned types, but have the disadvantage that the mixing capacity is relatively small, so that very frequent and intensive shaking operations are necessary. The webs provided there serve for the axial guidance of the agitating element in the container, and for this purpose they lie lightly on the container wall. They can also be replaced by corresponding webs which extend inwards from the container wall, so that the tubular shaking element is then guided by these webs.

The invention is therefore based on the object of designing a stirring element of the type mentioned in such a way that intensive mixing occurs in all areas of the container, even if the container is shaken only slightly for the purpose of moving the stirring element.

The invention consists in that the webs are arranged in the manner of blades of an impeller inclined to the longitudinal axis of the hollow body. This configuration allows the agitator to be easily manufactured, for example as a molded part made of plastic or metal. The propeller-like webs guarantee excellent mixing, even with minor shaking processes. It is very advantageous if the outer edges of the webs lie on an imaginary cylinder, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the container, because this also detects the edge regions of the liquid provided in the container when the stirring element is moved up and down once can and not only be mixed by repeated tumbling movements of an agitator. It is also advantageous that the area which comes into contact with the bottom of the container containing the lacquer and which essentially corresponds only to the end faces of the webs, can be kept very small. It is therefore not to be feared that the agitator will stick on even if it is not used for a long time.

These advantageous properties can be further improved if the axial length of the enveloping cylinder for the outer edges of the blades is selected to be greater than the length of the tube and if the front edges of the blades extend inwards at an angle to the longitudinal axis. This configuration results in only punctiform support points in the outermost region of the blades, so that the contact surfaces with the bottom of the paint stick container are reduced to a minimum. The new design therefore ensures the free movement of the agitator in the paint container in any case.

It is also advantageous if, in the case of such an embodiment, for technical reasons, the fan blades themselves are designed as straight blades, which are only set at an angle to the axial direction of the stirring element. Such a stirring element can be made from metal in a very simple manner, for example by injection molding.

It has proven to be sufficient and advantageous if four scoop-shaped webs are provided, the two end faces of which are perpendicular to the tube wall and are offset from one another in the circumferential direction. At In this embodiment, flow channels can form between the blade-like webs, which, if the length of the stirring element is approximately designed so that it corresponds to half the length available in the container for the axial movement of the stirring element, is sufficient rotation in a single shaking process cause the stirring element, which is converted into the desired mixing movement of the liquid. This new design of the agitator therefore allows safe, reliable guidance of the agitator in the container, simple manufacture and an excellent mixing effect without the brush provided in the container being damaged or touched by the moving agitator.

The invention is illustrated in the drawing using exemplary embodiments and explained in the description below. It shows
  • 1 shows a longitudinal section through a touch-up pen for repairing paint damage to motor vehicles, in which a stirring element according to the invention is used,
  • 2 is a perspective view of the stirring element provided in the touch-up stick of FIG. 1,
  • 3 shows a perspective view of a new stirring element, in which the end edges of the individual fan blades run obliquely towards the center, and
  • Fig. 4 is a side view of an agitator, similar to Fig. 3, but in which the individual blades are not wound in themselves, but are formed as straight, only to the axis blades.

In Fig. 1, a plug 2 is inserted into a cylindrical container 1 of a paint pen for repairing paint damage to motor vehicles, which is firmly connected to the upper edge of the container 1. The plug 2 carries an external thread 3, on which a screw cap 4 is placed, which is designed in a known manner. This screw cap 4 has a conical neck 5, in which a brush 6 is firmly clamped. It also has, also in a known manner, an inner cavity 7 which is covered at the top by an additional cap 8. In this cavity, for example, filler material or other material required for the repair work of the paint damage can be used.

In the container 1, a stirring element 9 is inserted, which serves to stir up the paint in the container 1 before starting the repair work. This is done in that the container 1 is shaken back and forth in the closed state in the axial direction, as a result of which the stirring element 9 executes an axial movement within the container 1 due to its inertia.

The stirring element 9 consists, as can also be seen in particular from FIG. 2, of a tubular hollow body 10, on the circumference of which helical webs 12 are provided, which are designed in the manner of the blades of an impeller. In the embodiment shown, four webs 12 are provided, the upper end faces 13 of which are each offset by 90 ° from one another on the circumference of the tube 1, in such a way that they lie with the upper end face 10a of the tube 10 in a radial plane which is perpendicular to the Longitudinal axis 11 is. The lower end faces 14, which are also aligned with the lower end face of the tube 10, are each offset from the associated upper end faces of each web by approximately 90 ° in the circumferential direction, so that the input cross sections of the flow channels formed between the webs 12 are also each approximately Stand 90 ° apart. The total length I of the tube 10 and the webs 12 is chosen so that it corresponds to approximately one third to half of the total length L available in the container 1 for the axial movement of the stirring element 9. With this configuration, a single shaking process may be sufficient to mix the paint in the container 1 properly by the swirl exerted by the stirring element. It is of course also possible to position the webs 12 at a smaller angle to the longitudinal axis 11, so that the end faces 13 and 14 of each web are, for example, only offset by approximately 45 ° or 60 ° from one another. The decisive factor is that the webs should act on the paint color in the manner of fan blades when the stirring element 9 executes an axial movement - due to the shaking of the container 1 - within the container 1.

In the exemplary embodiment, the outer edges 15 of the webs 12 lie on an imaginary cylinder, the diameter of which is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the container 1. As a result, the stirring element can be guided properly within the container 1 without fear of damage to the brush 6. It is then also advantageous that the entire inner region of the container 1 is detected by the swirling action of the stirring element 9 during a shaking process, the interior of the tube 10 taking part in the mixing process in that the lower end of the brush 6 is relative in the interior of the tube 10 moved relative to the tube 10. The new design therefore allows excellent mixing of the color in the container 1 when shaken.

The stirring element 9 can be produced in a very simple manner as a single part using the injection molding process. Difficulties in shaping do not occur. Metal, for example cast zinc, or plastic can be used as the production material.

The stirring element 9 shown in FIG. 3 consists of an inner cylindrical tube 10, on the circumference of which is helical Provided longitudinal axis 11 webs 12 are formed and arranged as in FIGS. 1 and 2 in the manner of the blades of an impeller. In contrast to the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, the end faces 13 'of each of the webs 12 are not arranged in a common plane which is flush with the end face of the tube 11, but rather, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 4, under one Angle ( X) inclined to the longitudinal axis 11, in such a way that, starting from the imaginary enveloping cylinder of length M, which receives the outer edges 15 of the individual blade-like webs 12, they are returned obliquely inward to the length m of the tube 10 The two outermost end boundaries of the stirring element 9, which are arranged at a distance L from each other, therefore only result in four approximately punctiform points 20 on each side in the two exemplary embodiments shown, which, when the stirring element 9 is used in cylindrical paint containers according to FIGS 2 can come into contact with the bottom of the paint container. The contact surfaces between the paint container and stirring element 9 are therefore minimized by reduced. The new agitator can therefore not stick to the paint pigments after standing for a long time on the bottom of the paint container.

As can be seen from FIG. 4, the webs 12 designed as fan blades are only inclined at an angle to the longitudinal axis 11, but are not twisted again. It has been shown that the force component which causes the lacquer to be shaken is large enough to achieve sufficient mixing. If the stirring element shown in FIG. 4 is made in one piece, for example from cast metal, the shape required for this can be made considerably simpler.
