Description

The invention relates to an ink fountain in the inking unit of rotary printing presses according to the preamble of claim 1.

Ink tanks of this type are used in the inking unit of letterpress or offset printing machines and serve to hold the ink supply. To set the amount of ink to be transferred to the inking unit, e.g. Zone screws are used, by means of which the gap between the ink knife and ink fountain roller is changed zone by zone.

A known version of the ink fountain (US-PS 3120 802) uses a complex ink knife design, consisting of several parts, in which the last ink knife in the direction of rotation of the ink fountain roller determines the final ink layer thickness on the roller while removing the ink layer and thus reveals no possibility of how to pass through and Color runout can be prevented, which then gets into the inking unit in an uncontrolled manner.

Other known designs (DE-OS 25 55 993) also have the disadvantage that the relatively slowly rotating ink fountain is not completely absorbing the amount of ink passing through the slot and a small part of the color is deposited on the lower edge of the ink knife. Paint droplets are formed here, which either drip in a paint drip tray or harden and stick on the paint knife. Both options require additional cleaning effort (e.g. with an additional wiping belt running around the underside of the inking roller and ink knife). If ink that accumulates on the ink knife reaches the ink fountain roller and is transported from it to the inking unit at irregular intervals, this has the disadvantage that an excess supply of color gets into the inking unit at certain points and results in a change in the coloring in this area. This creates waste without the printer being able to prevent this by making any settings.

The object of the invention is to provide an ink metering device which prevents the supply of ink drops into the inking unit and the attachment or dripping of the ink from the ink knife with simple means.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that a thin, resilient film strip is attached to the underside of the ink knife in the region of the wiping edge and extends over and extends over the length of the wiping edge and grinds so lightly on the ink film present on the ink fountain roller that it attaches and dripping of paint on or from the ink knife is prevented and this feeds the small amount of ink running on the ink knife back to the ink film on the ink fountain roller. This solution prevents the deficiencies listed with simple means and ensures an even flow of ink into the inking unit of the printing press.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention are given in claims 2 and 3.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.

In a known manner, the ink fountain 1 is assigned to the ink fountain roller 2, which is connected to the inking unit of the printing press via the roller 3. The ink fountain 1 is provided with an ink metering device 4, which consists of an ink knife 5 extending over the length of the ink fountain roller 2, which in turn e.g. Zonal screws 6 can be adjusted zonally relative to the ink fountain roller 2.

On the underside of the color knife 5 in the area of the scraper edge 7 a thin film strip 8 is attached, the attachment to the color knife 5 e.g. can be done by gluing. The film strip 8 extends over the length of the ink knife 5 and thus the doctor edge 7 and projects beyond the ink knife 5 beyond the doctor edge 7. The protruding part of the film strip 8 approaches the ink fountain roller 2 in its front region and rubs lightly on the ink film present on the ink fountain roller 2. Here, the film strip 8 is bent slightly so that it lies approximately tangentially to the outer surface of the ink fountain roller 2 on the ink film.

The material for the film strip 8 must be resilient, so that both steel and plastic can be used, a thin plastic material of approximately 0.3 mm thickness being completely sufficient for the function of the invention.
