Description

The invention relates to a cell for receiving a metallurgical vessel, in the course of which there is a strong smoke development, in particular an electric furnace and an associated tapping vessel, an extraction line being connectable to the upper part of the cell and a part of the cell wall being movable for introducing the goods conveyed by means of a charging crane is.

In the case of metallurgical processes, such as the production of steel, flue gases, their collection and discharge, often arise during charging, melting and tapping. Difficulties.

The flue gases generated during the melting process can usually be discharged without any special effort through a fume cupboard connected to the melting vessel lid. However, if special metallurgical measures are taken, such as blowing in lime dust or adding fine ore, vapors of smoke can escape due to violent reactions and flow freely into the hall.

Even during charging and pouring, whereby in the first case the metallurgical vessel is without a lid, there is a strong development of flue gas, with the exhaust gases entering the hall freely. The flue gases then have to be removed by powerful roof extraction systems and filtered together with the entire hall air. The smoke gases escaping into the hall, despite the extraction devices used, are a nuisance to the operating personnel and give rise to excessive soiling and corrosion damage.

To reduce the difficulties caused by flue gases, it has already been proposed to surround a tiltable small converter with a cell on all sides, the cell having a closable opening for introducing the charging material. The goods to be charged were introduced into the converter mouth through the charging opening by means of a charging chute. However, such a cell has the disadvantage that it can only be used for small vessels and that charging by means of a crane is not possible.

It is known from DE-A-2 313 660 a steel production plant with one or more electric arc furnaces of the type described in the introduction. It has a cell that is closed on all sides, with closable openings for introducing the charging material. However, the openings cannot be closed during charging, so that the exhaust gases generated during charging pass freely through these openings into the hall.

From DE-B-1 067 048 it is known to arrange a flue gas outlet above an arc furnace. When charging, part of this flue gas discharge is moved laterally, which means that a crane with a charging container can be brought into position above the vessel.

However, the stationary part of the flue gas outlet cannot completely absorb the flue gases generated during charging, since it is located far above the vessel, namely above the crane, which allows the smoke or flue gases to escape laterally into the hall.

In another known device, as described in Austrian Patent No. 329,895, in which the melting vessel is fed by a crane, parts of the cell wall are attached to the crane, which depending on the position of the crane, the cell either in the charging position or in the Complete operating position. This device has the disadvantage that a separate charging crane is required for each vessel and the crane paths are precisely specified.

The invention aims to avoid these disadvantages and difficulties and has as its object to provide devices for receiving metallurgical vessels, wherein a charging crane can be used to operate several cells, each containing a metallurgical vessel, and a free flue gas outlet both during charging as well as during melting or tapping is safely avoided; furthermore, precautions are to be taken in order to be able to carry out the charging process either in the open position or in the closed position of the cell ceiling, the charging being easily observable and controllable by means of the crane.

This object is achieved in that the ceiling of the cell is made in two parts and the two parts can be moved apart to release a charging opening, during charging the two parts of the ceiling between the charging crane and the charging container are brought together in the closed position and the upper part of the Cell is connected to a flue gas outlet (Fig. 7 to 3).

Here, the ceiling parts can have mutually complementary recesses, which form a passage opening for the cables of the charging crane in the closed position.

The object can also be achieved according to the invention by a further embodiment, which is characterized in that the ceiling of the cell is designed in two parts and the two parts can be moved apart to release a charging opening, the two parts located between the charging crane and the charging container during charging the ceiling in the open position release the passage of the flue gases to an extractor hood located above the charging opening (Fig. 4, 5).

When a fume hood is arranged above the charging opening of the ceiling parts, part of this hood can advantageously be attached to the end of the crane bridge and another part that complements the first part of the closed hood can be attached to the trolley of the charging crane and can be moved with it.

The ceiling parts are expediently formed in one piece with front wall parts of the cell, which advantageously extend to below the mouth of the metallurgical vessel.

On each of the two ceiling parts, a smoke outlet connection is advantageously provided, which can be connected to exhaust lines in the closed position.

These and other features of the invention are explained in more detail in the drawing:
  • Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of the invention in a view transverse to the pouring direction of the electric furnace with the side wall removed; Fig. 2 shows the cell of Fig. 1 in plan; Fig. 3 is a view according to arrow 111 in Fig. 1; Fig. 4 shows a cell with removed side walls and movable hood; FIG. 5 is a view according to arrow V in FIG. 4.

In the embodiment of the invention according to FIG. 1, a cell 1 with a fixed rear wall 2 and two ceiling parts 5, 6 which can be moved on rollers 3, 4 completely surrounds an electric furnace 7 with a lid 8 and a tapping vessel 9. The ceiling parts 5, 6 hang in one piece with parts 11 of the front wall together, the latter advantageously extending below the mouth 10 of the electric furnace 7. The ceiling parts 5, 6 each have a recess 12, 13, which add up to an opening 15 in the closed position. Furthermore, a smoke exhaust connection 18 is attached to each ceiling part 5, 6 and can be connected to an exhaust line 19.

To insert a charging container 14 into the cell, the ceiling parts 5, 6 are moved laterally with the discharge nozzle 18, so that a charging container 14 can easily be brought into the charging position via the electric furnace 7. Then the ceiling parts are brought into the closed position, the cables 16 of the charging crane or trolley 17 leading through the opening 15. The smoke outlet 18 are now connected to the exhaust line 19 by aligning their two openings. The charge material can now be introduced from the charge container 14 into the furnace 7, the smoke development only taking place in the cell and the smoke gases being drawn off. After the smoke has stopped, the cell is opened and the charging container is moved out, whereupon the lid 8 is placed on the oven 7 and the cell is closed again. Melting and pouring takes place with the cell closed. In the meantime, the crane can be moved freely in the hall and can be used for charging in other furnaces.

In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, a two-part extractor hood 20 is attached to the charging crane 21 above the cell 1 and can be moved with it. The rear and side walls as well as the ceiling of the hood 20 are fixedly mounted on the crane bridge 22 and provided with a smoke outlet connection 24, while the front wall 23 of the hood is fastened to the trolley 17 and can be moved with it. During charging, the trolley 17 is in the hood 20 which is closed on all sides. In this embodiment, it is not necessary for the ceiling parts 5, 6 to be provided with recesses 12, 13, since the cell is not closed during the charging process and the smoke which arises rises from the cell 1 into the hood 20. The smoke flows through the outlet connection 24 into the same outlet line 19 to which the smoke outlet connection 18 is also connected. The hood 20 is connected to the exhaust line 19 in the same way as the connection piece 18 to the extraction line 19 by aligning the connection piece 24 with openings 25 in the extraction line 19. In this embodiment, the connection piece 25 or the lower pipe ends 26 of the exhaust line 19 must be selectively closable, so that no false air is drawn in at the connection piece or pipe ends that are not in operation.

The openings of the discharge line are advantageously provided with locking members, so that the openings 25 are closed during melting and tapping with closed ceiling parts 5, 6, and during charging with the cell open, the ends 26 of the discharge line 19 are closed. In this embodiment, frequent opening and closing of the cell during charging is avoided and the time required for repeated setting of scrap baskets is reduced.
