Abstract
Removing pollutants from the waste gas of a thermal process by mixing a sorbent with the gas in a fluidized bed, separating the sorbent together with dust and reaction products and recycling the sorbent comprises introducing fresh sorbent both between the fluidized bed and the separation zone and into the waste gas channel leading to the fluidized bed. An independent claim is also included for apparatus for carrying out the above process, comprising a fluidized bed reactor (1), a particle separator (4) for separating the sorbent, dust and reaction products, a sorbent recycle surge tank (5), a sorbent recycle line (13), a first feed hopper (2) for adding fresh sorbent between the fluidized bed and the separator, and a second feed hopper (3) for adding fresh sorbent the waste gas channel (8) leading to the fluidized bed.
