Desweiteren befindet sich eine derartige Steckkarte i. d. Eine intelligente Elektronik erkennt zum einen die Zahl der vorhandenen Adapter zum anderen kann sie die Auswahl der Steckkarten vornehmen. Eine Seite des Adapters, in Fig. 1 links gezeichnet, dient der Verbindung mit einer PCMCIA-Buchse in einem vorhandenen Gerät. Diese Seite kann vorteilhaft auch verlängert ausgeführt werden.
