Safety device for skis and bindings

The subject of the utility model relates to a device for conveniently securing skis or ski bindings against theft. Unlike previous devices, it is not about securing by "chaining" but rather a device that makes theft pointless.

The device for securing skis and bindings consists of one or two brackets (3) or similar, and a lock with a lock housing (4). One end or both ends of the brackets form the locking mechanism with the lock.

The two skis or bindings are clamped and held between the two brackets (3) or between the bracket and the lock housing. Once the lock is closed, the device can no longer be opened. This secures the skis or bindings, i.e. in the event of theft, the device cannot be removed without damaging the skis and bindings.

The device or the brackets are made of hardened steel, so removing the device by sawing through the bracket is impossible. Other means would damage the skis or the bindings. This would render them unusable, as mentioned, so theft is pointless.

The screw heads (6) of the screws (7) with which the bindings

can be blocked with a plate attached to the device or with pins (3c). This means that the formations can no longer be unscrewed.

The object of the utility model is explained in concrete terms with the help of drawings of various design options:

Figure 1 shows a vertical section through the skis (1). The skis (1) are clamped, pressed together and held in place by the two brackets (3). The base plate of the bindings has not been drawn in order to simplify the drawing. The two brackets (3) are pushed into one another and lock into one another. At one end of the lower bracket is the lock in the lock housing (4), which forms the locking mechanism (4a) with the end of the upper bracket. The skis are released by pulling the two brackets apart.

Figure 2 shows a top view of the device described in Figure 1. The skis (1) are clamped and held in place using the brackets (3). The device is locked using the lock built into the lock housing (4).

Figure 3 shows a vertical section through the skis (1). The function of the two brackets (3) and the lock housing (4) is the same as in Figure 1, but the two brackets (3) are no longer pushed into each other from top to bottom and bottom to top, but sideways.

In Figure 4, the skis (1) are held together and clamped by a single bracket (3) and the lock housing (4). The lock housing (4) also takes on the function of the second bracket. The lock built into the lock housing forms the locking mechanism with one or both ends of the bracket (3).

Figure 5 is a variant of Figure 4 in which the bracket (3)

is no longer attached to the side but on top.

In Figure 6, the two brackets (3) are held together by means of a bolt (5). In this example, the bolt (5) runs between the two skis (1). However, the bolt (5) can also be located at one of the two ends of the brackets (3a or 3b). Its function is the same.

At one end of the bolt (5a), the bolt (5) is firmly attached to the bracket (3). The other bracket (3) simultaneously forms the lock housing (4). The other end of the bolt (5b) is free and forms the locking mechanism (Aa) with the lock built into the lock housing (4). By unlocking, the right bracket can be removed and the skis are freed.

Figure 7 shows the pins (3c) that are attached to the bracket (3). These pins (3c) fit exactly into the holes in the base plate (2) through which the screws (7) that hold the base plate or the bindings in place are screwed. This covers the screw heads (6). By locking the device, the bindings can no longer be removed and the skis can no longer be taken apart.

As mentioned, the device is made of hardened steel. Manufacturing is no problem given today's state of the art technology.

The best solution when producing this device is to adapt it to the different sliding bindings or base plates. However, a universal model is possible.

The device is not very large and is easy to use. It makes theft pointless because neither the skis nor the bindings are usable without the device.
