Description
Absorbable sewing and ligament material The previously used of ligatures and sutures. used. Threads have the disadvantage that they are not are equally well sterilizable and resorbable. Catgut can e.g. B. as a result of his Inconsistency in water cannot be boiled. Silk threads can be boiled, however, they are not absorbed by the body and remain in the tissue as foreign bodies and lead to complications of the healing process in the event of later rejection. Man therefore has because of the sterilizability and the resorbability of magnesium the use of magnesium has already been proposed in surgery.
In many cases the rate of resorption is now desirable of magnesium. So you have the magnesium with other metals alloyed. However, the alloyed magnesium wires have the disadvantage that they are considerable . are more brittle and less flexible than wires and threads made of pure magnesium. In addition, when the alloyed magnesium is absorbed, the magnesium is absorbed also its alloy components in the body, which is not always desirable. It has now been found that the rate of absorption of magnesium and its alloys change in the body and the gas evolution that occurs during resorption of magnesium in the human body, so let it go slowly can, .da, ß it - is no longer noticeable at all if you take the magnesium with provides an oxidic or hydroxydic protective layer. This protection, ravages can be obtained, for example, by the method such as .es subject of Patent 663,988 is.
