B. für solche der technischen Elektrolyse, sind geformte Gegenstände aus Kohlenstoff nötig, die eine gute Festigkeit besitzen und möglichst wenig Asche enthalten sollen. Ihre Herstellung erfolgt bisher in der Weise, ' daß pulvriges, amorphen Kohlenstoff enthaltendes Material mit Teer angerührt und das Gemenge dann in die gewünschten Formen gepreßt und auf hohe Temperatur erhitzt wird. Nach dem Erkalten hat man eine locker zusammenhängende, d. h. poröse Masse, die nicht zerfällt und sehr leicht mechanisch bearbeitbar ist. Um nun dem Formling die nötige Festigkeit zu geben, wird er mit einer reinen Zuckerlösung durchtränkt und vorsichtig auf höhere Temperatur erhitzt; dieses Verfahren wird mehrfach wiederholt. Schließlich wird der Formling einige Zeit auf eine- Temperatur über =ooo ° erhitzt. PATENTANSPRÜCHE: z.
