B. Ammoniak, benetzt. Diese Substanzen bewirken ein Auflockern der Faser bzw. der. Stoffmasse. Wird nun die Leimbrühe, als welche hauptsächlich wäßrige Aufquellungen von Leim, Gelatine, Casein, Pflanzenschleim oder ähnliches bzw. gleichartiges verwandt werden, aufgetragen, so dringt diese Masse in den erweichten bzw, aufgelockerten Stoff ein und verankert sich so gewissermaßen in der Papierstoffmasse selbst. Es entsteht demnach auf diesem Arbeitswege nicht nur ein Überzug, sondern eine gewisse Tiefenwirkung, so daß man von einer Imprägnierung sprechen kann. Ein fast gleichartiger technischer Effekt wird erzielt, wenn die alkalisch wirkende Substanz, z. B. B. mit der wäßrigen Lösung der alkalisch wirkenden Substanzzugleich ein löslichesBariumsalz auf, so kann das in die Stoffwasser eingedrungene gelöste Salz durch z. B. Schwefelsäure, die mit der Leimbrühe usw. aufgebracht wird, sich in der Faser und an der Berührungsstelle der Faser und Deckschicht in unlösliches Sulfat umsetzen. In gleicher Weise wirken auch Fluorverbindungen und analog wirkende Stoffe (z. B.
