Abstract
The transmission system is for a tram. This can be installed in a tram used on a track of standard width or in a tram used on a track with a width of one metre. When used on a one metre track, the motor (3) is attached to the transmission housing (2) which encloses a gear train which drives the wheel (1b) and the brake (5) is mounted on the side of the housing (2) opposite to the motor (3). When used on a standard track the brake is mounted on the inner end of the driving motor. In both cases the driving wheels can be swung about a vertical axis and the transmission system is suitable for trams with very low floors.
