Zum Auflockern der Brennstoffsäule in Gaserzeugern sind einerseits Stochlöcher auf der Abdeckplatte, anderseits aber auf dem unteren Schachtteil in der Nähe des Feuerabschnittes vorhanden. Während die Stochlochverschlüsse in den Abdeckplatten nur auf verhältnismäßig geringe Temperatur kommen, erhalten die in dem Feuerabschnitt liegenden Stochlochverschliisse ganz wesentlich höhere Temperaturen. An beiden Stellest verwendet man als Stochlochverschlüsse fast ausschließüdh kegelige Stopfen aus X-Ietall. Diese Stopfen bewähren sich für die Stochlochverschlüsse an der oberen Abdeckplatte recht gut. Bei den Stochlochverschlüssen in dem Feuerabschnitt erzeugen sie aber auch mancherlei L'nzuträgl.ichkeiten. Besonders dann, wenn sich Schlackenteile in den Weg gestellt haben, ist es oft notwendig, sehr lange durch den Stochlochverschluß hindurch auf die Brennstoffsäule einzuwirken. Infolgedessen kühlt sich in diesem Falle der herausgenommene kegelige Stopfen sehr stark ab, während sich die Stochloohöffnung selbst infolge der durchschlagenden Flammen meistens noch höher erwärmt. Wird nun der Stopfen wieder eingesetzt, dann dringt er sehr tief in das Stochloch ein und preßt sich in demselben bei der nachfolgenden Erwärmung außerordentlich fest, so daß er schwierig wieder zu lockern ist.pinhole lock.
