Abstract
The furnace has a series of connected chambers (A-D) with atmospheric gas circulated in at least one, for forced heating or cooling. A plate (4) provided in the gas-circulated chamber (A) is outside the movement path of articles in the chamber but within a flow path of the forced convection. The plates are adjustable in any selected plane between one plane which is parallel with the plane of forced heating or convection and another transverse to it. The first chamber can be for preheating, with the plate provided in a space between the walls of the preheating chamber and a baffle case (2) in the chamber.
