Innenverkleidungsteil für KraftfahrzeugeInterior trim part for motor vehicles
SOMMER ALLIBERT-LIGNOTOCK GMBHSOMMER ALLIBERT-LIGNOTOCK GMBH
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Innenverkleidungsteil gemäß dem Oberbegriff des Anspruches 1. 5The invention relates to an interior trim part according to the preamble of claim 1. 5
It is known to produce interior trim parts for motor vehicles by connecting dimensionally stable support parts and preformed surface layers in separate foaming tools by a foam layer (back foaming). Instrument panel trims and passenger seats in particular are currently manufactured in this way. The dimensionally stable support parts can be made of any material (wood fiber material, sheet metal), but support parts made of injection-molded or pressed thermoplastics are preferably used. The preformed surface layers are preferably so-called "slush skins", i.e. molded skins produced by sintering or slip in 0 separate tools, over-
wiegend aus PVC-Werkstoffen (siehe beispielsweise DE 39 32 923 Al). Wenn auch die beschriebene Vorgehensweise zum erfolgreich praktizierten Stand der Technik gehört, so gelten vor allem zwei Probleme als noch nicht vollständig gelöst:predominantly made of PVC materials (see for example DE 39 32 923 Al). Although the procedure described is part of the successfully practiced state of the art, two problems in particular are not yet fully resolved:
The currently poor adhesion between back foam and the slush skin, and
*** the diffusion of plasticizers from slush skin into the backfoam.
However, the migration of plasticizers into the foam leads to a decrease in the flexibility of the slush skin over the life of the interior trim part (long-term aging) and possibly also to a deterioration in the quality of the foam. Attempts are made to compensate for the loss of plasticizer in the slush skin by increasing the wall thickness, i.e. by providing a larger "supply" of plasticizers overall, with the disadvantage that in addition to higher manufacturing costs for the slush skin, additional weight is also gained, which could have been avoided. The problem of plasticizer diffusion is exacerbated by the following circumstance. Increasingly, interior trim parts of vehicles have areas behind which airbags are arranged, but these are often not intended to be visible. In order to ensure a defined tearing of the lamination, preferably a slush skin, in the event of an airbag deployment, it is usual to mechanically weaken the outline of the opening area of the airbag in the lamination, e.g. by scoring or laser perforating (older application DE 198

10815). However, such exposed areas are preferred locations for plasticizer diffusion, which can lead, for example, to undesirable markings on the visible side of the interior trim parts. The invention is therefore based on the object of improving the long-term aging of interior trim parts of the type described and of reducing the weight of these parts and their manufacturing costs.
10
The object of the invention is solved by the characterizing part of claim 1, with advantageous further developments by claims 2 to 13.
By placing an adhesion promoter layer between the surface skin and the backing foam, which at least prevents the diffusion of low molecular weight organic substances (i.e. the plasticizer), both the use of adhesion promoters in the foam and an increase in the thickness of the surface skin become unnecessary, which in turn results in a reduction in production costs and a reduction in the weight of the finished part. A slush skin is preferably used as the surface skin. The diffusion of the plasticizers in particular can be positively influenced if the multifunctional adhesion promoter layer consists of polymers that have a small molecular dipole moment. Such substances only show low dissolving properties for plasticizers and are therefore particularly suitable as diffusion barriers for them. If the melting point temperature of the multifunctional adhesion-promoting layer is lower than that of the slush skin, this offers the advantageous possibility of coating the adhesion-promoting layer with adhesion-promoting agent directly after the slush skin has been produced.
Da die Dicke der Haftvermittlungsschicht vernachlässigbar gering gegenüber der Dicke der Slush-Haut ist, wird die gewünschte Schwächung der Slush-Haut nicht beeinträchtigt.layer, pre-weaken it in the area of an invisible airbag and then seal the bonding layer again by subsequent thermal treatment over the weakened areas of the slush skin to make it diffusion-tight, without reversing this weakening in the slush skin itself. These areas that are particularly susceptible to diffusion can thus be safely sealed. Since the thickness of the bonding layer is negligible compared to the thickness of the slush skin, the desired weakening of the slush skin is not affected.
Polyurethane materials can be used as the material for the multifunctional adhesion-promoting layer, which are particularly suitable due to their chemical relationship to foam; but adhesion-promoting layers made of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) based on styrene and/or polyamides and/or polyesters are also well suited for the intended use, whereby mixtures of several components can also be useful. Alternatively, it is of course also possible to form the adhesion-promoting layer from a composite of at least two layers that have different properties in order to optimally meet the different requirements in terms of adhesion and diffusion barrier.
Metallization can be carried out using state-of-the-art application methods over the entire surface or in partial areas, with partial application being preferred for covering un-
5visible airbags can be provided. It is naturally also possible to combine full or partial metallization with other of the listed materials in a layered composite. 5
If the adhesion-promoting layer consists of at least one of the organic materials listed, it may be expedient to form it as a sintered layer, which can then be applied to the slush skin in the same tool in which it was manufactured, possibly also at the same temperature. However, it is equally possible to apply the adhesion-promoting layer as a solution and/or dispersion using conventional methods such as spraying or painting, as a layer of paint to the back of the slush skin. This makes it easy to cover only part of the slush skin with the adhesion-promoting layer, for example only the area of the passage opening of an invisible airbag with the corresponding pre-weakening, where without the adhesion-promoting layer there is an increased risk of plasticizer diffusion.
If the adhesion-promoting layer is applied as a lacquer layer in a separate operation as described, this can advantageously be done when the slush skin has already been introduced into the foaming tool. This has the advantage that damage to the adhesion-promoting layer, for example through transport, storage or positioning in the tool, is excluded, so that the adhesion-promoting layer can be made thinner if necessary.
Je nach Material der Haftvermittlungsschicht kann es dabei zweckmäßig sein, den unmittelbaren Bereich derDepending on the material of the adhesion-promoting layer, it may be appropriate to protect the immediate area of the
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the figure, which shows a schematic section through an interior trim part according to the invention, at a point at which a tear seam for the opening area of an invisible airbag is predetermined by weak points in the carrier part and in the slush skin. 1 designates a carrier part which has a predetermined breaking point 6. A backfoam 2 connects a slush skin 4 forming the visible side of the trim part V to the carrier part 1, with a multifunctional adhesion-promoting layer 3 (shown thicker in the figure than in reality in comparison to the other layers for the sake of clarity) ensuring good adhesion between the backfoam 2 and the slush skin 4 and preventing diffusion of plasticizer components from the slush skin 4 into the backfoam 2. A weak point 5, which is introduced into the slush skin 4 in the form of a notched cut, is protected by a covering 5' against sticking by the multifunctional adhesion-promoting layer 3. This covering 5 ' can be designed in different ways: the simplest is the design as a protective varnish, which at least fills the weak point 5 and which has only a low inherent strength, so that the function of the weak point 5 is not impaired.
