Vorrichtung zur Erzeugung von ScratcheffektenDevice for generating scratch effects
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Erzeugung von Scratcheffekten. The invention relates to a device for generating scratch effects.
Scratching is a well-known technique used by DJs to create new musical sounds using a record player and a vinyl record. The vinyl record is rotated rhythmically clockwise and anti-clockwise while the record player's head is resting on the record. The speed at which this happens determines the rhythm and pitch of the sounds.
It is also known that computers can be used to play music. A sample player is used for this purpose. A sample player is a computer program that can be used to play back stored pieces of music.
The invention is intended to solve the problem of simplifying the generation of scratch effects.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by a device comprising a computer mouse that rests on a base and generates signals that correspond to the movement of the mouse relative to the base, and a computer that converts the signals generated by the mouse to control a sample player.
Preferably, the base is movable while the computer mouse is fixed.
Preferably, the base is circular and rotatable about its center, while the computer mouse is attached by means of a mounting device in such a way that it rests on the base. For this purpose, the mounting device is attached at one end in the middle of the movable base in such a way that it is not moved when the base is moved. At its other end, the mounting device has a holder to which the computer mouse can be attached in such a way that the computer mouse rests on the base.
Preferably, the surface of the pad can be the same as the surface of commercially available pads for a computer mouse. The size of the pad can correspond to the size of a conventional vinyl record.
Die gewünschten Scratcheffekte werden dabei erzeugt durch ÄnderungThe device according to the invention allows the generation of scratch effects using a computer mouse and a computer that controls a sample player. The mouse rests on a base and generates the signals that are attributable to the movement of the mouse relative to the base. This relative movement can be witnessed, for example, by moving the base while simultaneously holding the mouse or by moving the mouse while simultaneously holding the base. The computer converts the signals using suitable software to control a sample player. The desired scratch effects are generated by changing
der Abspielgeschwindigkeit und der Abspielrichtung des Sampleplayers. the playback speed and direction of the sample player.
The device according to the invention allows scratch effects to be generated without using a record player and a vinyl record. Problems caused by wear and tear on the vinyl record and the record player's sound head are therefore avoided. With the help of the device according to the invention, other record media, e.g. CDs, can now be used in addition to the conventional vinyl record to generate scratch effects. For this purpose, the piece of music stored on any record only needs to be played using a sample player. By using a computer with a sample player, several pieces of music can also be mixed in advance, and this mix can then be used as a musical basis for generating scratch effects using the device according to the invention. In particular, the design of the invention according to claim 5 allows it to be handled in a similar way to generating scratch effects using the conventional method using a vinyl record and record player. A disc jockey who is used to the conventional generation of scratch effects by rhythmically moving a vinyl record on a record player can switch to the device according to the invention according to claim 5 without any adjustment problems, since in this case too only a circular base has to be moved rhythmically back and forth to generate the scratch effects.
Es zeigen:An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. They show:

Fig. 3 shows how the holder device 16 is attached: A rubber suction cup 20 with an upwardly directed mandrel is attached to a solid base. The opening cut out in the middle of the base 10 is pushed over the mandrel 22 attached to the rubber suction cup 20 and directed upwards. The holder device 16 is placed on the mandrel 22 after the computer mouse has been attached to the holder 18. The shaft of the holder device 16 and the mandrel 22 are designed in such a way that the attached holder device 16 is not moved when the base 10 is moved.
Fig. 4 shows the holder 18 of the holder device 16 to which the computer mouse 12 is attached. To create scratch effects, the base 10 can be moved back and forth in a circular and rhythmic manner - as indicated by the double arrow in Fig. 1. This also moves the ball of the computer mouse. These movements are transmitted as signals to the computer 14, which converts these signals to control a sample player.
