Abstract

A method for producing small droplets of an electrically non-conducting liquid consists of producing nonhomogeneous electrical fields rapidly in succession in the capillary tube of a nozzle, so that they pass through the liquid and produce mechanical impulses in it which break up the stream into droplets. In a preferred embodiment, a core electrode inside the capillary tube and an external electrode outside the nozzle produce the field.
