Abstract

Da der Umlenker ein vergleichsweise kleines Bauteil mit entsprechend geringerem Bauraumbedarf ist, ist der Bauraumbedarf der Einheit aus dem Umlenker und der Vorrichtung zum Aufblasen insgesamt geringer als der benötigte Bauraum für eine Baueinheit gebildet aus der Vorrichtung zum Aufblasen und einem Gurtaufroller. Ein weiterer sich aus der Erfindung ergebender Vorteil ist darin zu sehen, dass der Gasstrom unmittelbar an dem oberen Ende des Diagonalgurtabschnittes des Sicherheitsgurtes in diesen eingeleitet wird, so dass z. B. ein zwischen dem Umlenker und dem Gurtaufroller vorgesehener Gurtabschnitt nicht zuerst aufgeblasen werden muss, bevor der Diagonalgurtabschnitt aufgeblasen wird. Der zur Verfügung stehende Gasstrom wird damit wesentlich effektiver zum Aufblasen des Diagonalgurtabschnittes genutzt, oder es kann alternativ der von dem Gasgenerator zu erzeugende Gasstrom und damit der Gasgenerator selbst kleiner bemessen werden. Ferner muss der Diagonalgurtabschnitt nicht erst durch eine im Unfall sehr hoch belastete Umlenkstelle des Sicherheitsgurtes aufgeblasen werden, so dass die Gefahr eines verzögerten oder verlustbehafteten Aufblasens durch eine abgeklemmte Umlenkstelle verringert werden kann.
