Durch die am Längslenker angeordnete Abstützeinrichtung kann eine obere Querlenkerebene, wie sie heutzutage bei vielen Einzelradaufhängungen zur Sturzabstützung vorgesehen ist, entfallen, wodurch sich einerseits der konstruktive Aufwand und die Teilevielfalt reduziert und andererseits eine sehr flach bauende Achse geschaffen wird, welche beispielsweise ein vergrößertes Kofferraumvolumen zulässt. Zudem ist die erfindungsgemäße Sturzabstützung über die Abstützeinrichtung deutlich steifer als bei herkömmlichen Systemen, was sich positiv auf das Fahrverhalten des Kraftfahrzeugs auswirkt.
