V souvislosti s příčným zatavením se trubicovitý materiál zpracovává také tak, že jeho v podstatě kruhový průřez je měněn na průřez se čtyřmi stěnami, s výhodou se stýkajícími v pravých úhlech. Toho se dosahuje páry spolupracujících chlopní tvaru U v příčném řezu, otáčivých z otevřené polohy do polohy, v níž chlopně společně uzavírají část laminátové trubice a dodávají jí požadovaný pravoúhlý tvar.
