Apparatus for treating fabrics with steam

Technical Field

The present invention relates to a device for treating fabrics with steam, comprising means for ironing and/or ironing the garments, at least one supporting bar supporting an ironing board, which ironing board comprises a flat surface against which the garments to be ironed can be set to be treated with the aid of the means, and which device comprises a support for stably placing the means in the inactive phase of ironing and/or ironing. The present invention relates more particularly to a device in which the ironing plate comprises hanger suspension means and is pivotally mounted by hinge means to fix the ironing plate in at least one first position, in which the flat surface of the ironing plate is inclined with respect to the vertical plane by less than 45 °, and in at least one second position, in which the laundry can be placed flat on the ironing plate by hanging it on a hanger suspended on the hanger suspension means, the support comprising a fixing member allowing it to be removably fixed on at least one complementary fixing member provided on the device.

Background

From the patent application filed by the applicant in france under application number FR 1855137, a device is known which comprises a base supporting two poles supporting an ironing board comprising a flat surface against which the garment to be ironed can be placed for treatment by means of an iron, and a support for placing the iron during the inactive phase of ironing and/or ironing. In this document, the support is removable and can be hung on the base to have a more compact assembly when the base is transported, or on an arm carried by one of the poles to allow the user to temporarily rest the iron on a stand during ironing operations.

However, when the ironing board is arranged horizontally, it may partially hide the support, which may make the entry of the support less ergonomic.

SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an ironing/ironing apparatus that overcomes these drawbacks, and in particular to propose an apparatus that provides good ergonomics of use and at the same time provides easy access to the passage of the support on which the iron can be placed when the ironing board is arranged horizontally. Another object of the invention is to provide a device that is simple and economical.

To this end, the object of the present invention is a device for treating fabrics with steam, comprising means for ironing and/or ironing the garment, at least one bar supporting an ironing board comprising a flat surface against which the garment to be ironed can be placed for treatment by means of the means, and comprising a support for stably placing the means in the inactive phase of ironing and/or ironing, said ironing board comprising hanger suspension means and being pivotally mounted by hinge means for fixing the ironing board in at least one first position in which the flat surface of the ironing board is inclined less than 45 ° with respect to a vertical plane, and in at least one second position in which the garment can be placed in front of the ironing board by hanging the garment to be treated on a hanger suspended on the hanger suspension means, in said second position, also called horizontal position, the garment can be placed flat on the ironing board, the support comprising a fixing member which allows it to be removably fixed on at least one complementary fixing member provided on the apparatus, characterized in that said complementary fixing member is provided on the hanger suspension means.

Such a feature allows the support to be fixed to the hanger suspension, particularly when the ironing board is in a horizontal position. This provides the user with the possibility to place the iron on the support and thus on the edge of the ironing board, to provide greater ergonomics of use. Furthermore, this solution, which uses the hanger suspension to support the support for the tool, has the advantage of being economical to implement. In fact, since the hanger suspension means already present at the edge of the panel is then used, it is not necessary to add a dedicated element to support the support.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the fixing member is a fixing lug and the complementary fixing member is a receiving housing inserted in the fixing lug.

Such a fixing mechanism has the advantage of being simple and economical to implement and provides good ergonomics of use, the user visually understanding how the bracket and the receiving housing cooperate.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the hanger suspension comprises a protruding stud in which the receiving housing is arranged.

This feature allows to obtain a compact assembly, the space (volume) for hanging the protruding stud of the hanger also serving as a receiving housing for the fixing lug of the support.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the receiving housing comprises an access slot provided on a front surface of the stud.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the hanger suspension is arranged at the upper end of the ironing board when the ironing board is in the first position.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, in the first position, the flat surface of the ironing plate forms an angle α between 0 ° and 35 ° with respect to a vertical plane.

Such a range of inclination makes it possible to easily place the garment along the ironing board as the garment unfolds under the effect of gravity, when the upper end of the garment is suspended on top of the ironing board, and also to observe the garment well during the ironing/ironing operation, due to the inclination of the ironing board. In particular, limiting the maximum angle to 35 ° makes it possible to prevent the upper end of the ironing board from being too far away from the user when the user is facing the ironing board. Furthermore, such a range of inclinations allows to easily exert pressure on the garment by means of the iron or ironing brush to optimize ironing performance.

According to an advantageous feature of the invention, the ironing and/or ironing tool comprises at least one hole for letting out steam.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the device comprises a base containing the tank, said base being connected to the tool by a flexible conduit.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the base comprises an electric pump for conveying water from the tank to a tool comprising an instantaneous evaporation chamber.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the tool is an ironing brush or an iron.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the strut supports an arm comprising complementary fixing means for fixing the support on the arm.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the strut is telescopic.

This feature makes it possible to adjust the height of the ironing board.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the struts are arranged vertically.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the device comprises two parallel supporting bars supporting the ironing board.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the ironing plate has a length comprised between 50cm and 100cm, preferably about 70cm, and a width comprised between 30cm and 50cm, preferably about 40 cm.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the device comprises a base on which said at least one strut is fixed.

According to another advantageous feature of the invention, the base supports at least one base containing a tank, the base being advantageously removable from the base.

This feature makes it possible to have a very simple and not bulky base, the generation of steam being carried out directly in the vaporisation chamber carried by the ironing tool.

Detailed Description

Only the elements necessary for understanding the invention are shown. To facilitate reading of the figures, identical elements in different figures have identical reference numerals. It should be noted that in this application, the terms "horizontal", "vertical", "lower", "upper", "front" and "rear" used to describe the device are used with reference to the device lying on its base as shown in fig. 1.

Figure 1 shows a steam ironing device comprising a portable base 1 connected to a steam iron 3 by a flexible conduit 2, the base 1 being electrically connected to a domestic electric network by means of an electric cable (not visible in the figure).

The base 1 itself comprises a removable water tank 10 and a pump which draws water from the tank 10 to deliver it to the iron 3 through a pipe integrated in the flexible conduit 2.

Preferably, the iron 3 comprises a flat sole plate 30 surmounted by a main body comprising a grip handle 31 having a free rear end projecting laterally to the main body. The body itself contains a casting in thermal contact with the pad and comprising a heating resistor which is regulated by a non-adjustable thermostat to maintain the temperature of the pad around a set temperature of about 135 ℃.

The casting is advantageously made of aluminium and comprises an instantaneous evaporation chamber into which water is injected from a tank 10 by means of a pump, the operation of which is normally controlled by a trigger carried by the iron 3. The pump and vaporization chamber are advantageously sized to continuously generate a vapor flow of about 25gr/mn when the trigger is actuated, the pad 30 typically including apertures for venting vapor.

The apparatus further comprises a stand 4 removably placed on the base 1 equipped with a handle 11 at its upper end to facilitate its transport. The seat 4 advantageously comprises a cavity which follows the external contour of the base and in which the lower end of the base 1 engages.

Preferably, the base 4 comprises two telescopic struts 40 comprising an upper end supporting a rigid ironing plate 5 comprising a substantially rectangular flat ironing surface 50 covered by a cover (not shown in the figures) on which the fabric to be ironed can be arranged.

As a variant, the ironing plate 5 has a length comprised between 50cm and 100cm, preferably about 70cm, and a width comprised between 30cm and 50cm, preferably about 40 cm.

The ironing board 5 is pivotably mounted on the end of the supporting bar 40 by means of a hinging means 6 for fixing the ironing board 5 according to different inclinations advantageously in a vertical position (not shown), in a horizontal position (shown in figures 3 and 4) and in an intermediate position (shown in figure 1) in which the ironing board 5 forms an angle of advantageously about 30 ° with respect to the vertical.

This hinge device 6 is for example identical to the hinge device described in greater detail in the patent application filed by the applicant in france under application number FR 1756063.

The ironing board 5 advantageously comprises hanger suspension means 9 removably mounted at an upper end of the ironing board 5, the hanger suspension means 9 comprising a body comprising a protruding stud 90 (not shown in the figures) allowing to suspend a hanger, a garment suspended from the hanger extending in front of the ironing surface 50 when the ironing board 5 is in a neutral position (shown in figure 1) or in a vertical position.

In order to improve the ergonomics of use of the device, one of the telescopic struts 40 comprises an arm 7 on which a support 8 is provided for placing the iron 3 in the inactive phase of ironing/pressing.

The support 8 advantageously comprises a body made of plastic material having a substantially flat surface forming a protective screen 80, the protective screen 80 extending facing the soleplate 30 of the iron when the iron 3 is placed on the support 8 in the storage position (shown in fig. 1).

In line with what the applicant has described in more detail in the patent application filed in france under application number FR 1901387, the support 8 is removably fixed to the arm 7 and comprises, for this purpose, a fixing lug 86 which engages in a complementary shaped slot arranged at the end of the arm 7 (not shown in the figures).

Preferably, the fixing lugs 86 and the slots have H-shaped channel portions which enable the support member 8 to engage in two opposite directions of the support member 8. Thus, in the first engagement position, the support 8 may be oriented on one side of the arm 7, and in the second engagement position, the support 8 may be oriented on the other side of the arm 7. This free orientation of the support 8 has the advantage of improving the ergonomics of use by enabling the user to select the orientation that is most suitable for him.

More particularly according to the invention, the hanger suspension 9 further comprises a receiving housing 91 (visible in figure 3) having a shape complementary to the shape of the fixing lug 86, which allows removably fixing the support 8 in a substantially vertical position (as shown in figure 4) when the ironing plate 5 is in the horizontal position.

The receiving housing 91 comprises an access slot advantageously arranged on the front surface of the stud 90 and comprises a resilient locking tongue 92 (visible in fig. 5) comprising a boss which engages in an opening 86A of the fixing lug 86 when the fixing lug 86 is inserted integrally into the receiving housing 91 to fix the support 8 on the hanger suspension 9 in the position shown in fig. 4.

The device thus realised has the advantage of being very ergonomic in use and very economical to manufacture. In particular, the device thus realised has the advantage of comprising hanger suspension means 9 allowing to suspend the hanger at the upper end of the ironing board 5 when the ironing board 5 is in a vertical or intermediate position for suspending the garment in front of the ironing board, but also allowing to suspend the support 8 for placing the iron when the ironing board is in a horizontal position.

Thus, the user can choose to place the support 8 on the end of the arm 7 when the ironing board 5 is in the vertical or neutral position, or to place the support 8 on the hanger suspension means 9 when the ironing board is in the horizontal position.

Such a device therefore provides a good ergonomics of use by allowing to optimize the positioning of the support 8 to place the iron on different positions of the ironing board 5 according to the user's fatigue.

The invention is of course in no way limited to the embodiments described and shown by way of example. Modifications can be made, in particular from the point of view of the construction of the various elements or by substituting technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the present invention.

Thus, in a variant of embodiment not shown, the locking tongue may be carried by the support and cooperate with an opening carried by the hanger suspension.

Thus, in an embodiment variant not shown, the receiving housings of the fixing lugs of the hanger suspension may be arranged elsewhere on the projecting studs. Thus, the receiving housing may be arranged on the body of the hanger suspension extending to the bottom of the protruding stud or on a component provided on the body of the hanger suspension, for example by a clamp.

Claims

1. An apparatus for treating fabrics with steam, comprising an iron (3) for ironing and/or ironing the clothes, at least one leg (40) supporting an ironing plate (5), said ironing plate (5) comprising a flat surface (50) against which the clothes to be ironed can be placed for treatment by means of the iron, and said apparatus comprising a support (8) for stably placing the iron (3) in an inactive phase of ironing and/or ironing, said ironing plate (5) comprising hanger suspension means (9) and being pivotably mounted by hinge means (6) to secure the ironing plate (5) in at least one first position in which the flat surface of the ironing plate is inclined less than 45 ° with respect to a vertical plane, enabling hanging of the clothes to be treated on a hanger on said hanger suspension means by hanging the same on said ironing plate, whereas the garment is arranged in front of the ironing board, in said second position, also called horizontal position, on which the garment can be placed flat on the ironing board (5), said support (8) comprises fixing means allowing it to be removably fixed on at least one complementary fixing means arranged on said hanger suspension means (9), characterized in that, when the ironing board (5) is in horizontal position, said hanger suspension means (9) allows to hang said support (8) for placing the iron (3), and said strut (40) supports the arm (7), said arm (7) comprising complementary fixing means allowing said support (8) to be fixed on said arm (7) when the ironing board (5) is in horizontal position.

2. The apparatus for treating fabrics with steam according to claim 1, characterized in that said fixing member is a fixing lug (86) and said complementary fixing member is a receiving housing (91) inserted in said fixing lug (86).

3. An apparatus for treating a fabric with steam according to claim 2, characterized in that the hanger suspension means (9) comprises a protruding stud (90), the receiving housing (91) being provided in the protruding stud (90).

4. The apparatus for treating fabrics with steam according to claim 3, characterized in that the receiving housing (91) comprises an access slot provided on the front surface of the protruding stud (90).

5. An apparatus for treating fabrics with steam according to any of claims 1-4, characterized in that the hanger suspension means (9) is arranged at the upper end of the ironing board when the ironing board is in the first position.

6. An apparatus for treating fabrics with steam according to any of the claims 1 to 4, characterized in that in the first position the flat surface of the ironing plate forms an angle a between 0 ° and 35 ° with respect to a vertical plane.

7. A device for treating fabrics with steam according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the iron (3) for ironing and/or pressing comprises at least one aperture for steam discharge.

8. An apparatus for treating fabrics with steam according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that it comprises a base (1) containing a water tank (10), which is connected to the iron (3) by means of a flexible conduit (2).
