Abstract

技术领域
本发明涉及具有高温警报系统的轮端组件(wheel end assembly),如果组件中的温度达到预定的值,例如出现轮毂轴承故障或与制动器相关的故障,该系统就会发出警报。该系统可以是安装在任何车辆如牵引在后挂拖车上的独立系统,或者在另一个实施例中,该系统可以与自动轮胎充气系统结合使用。
背景技术
如果车辆上例如牵引车后挂拖车(tractor trailer)上出现轮端组件轴承故障或与制动器相关的故障,该组件及轴颈(axle spindle)区域中的温度所达到的温度,可以让轮胎或润滑剂点燃,使车辆被烧着或使轮子被锁住。还可能由于任何故障引起酷热而使轮子会与车轴分离。
发明内容
本发明涉及轮端组件所用的高温警报系统,在该组件中,由于设置了邻接轮子组件(wheel assembly)而安装的热敏控制件,就使车辆具有气压供应源(air pressure supply),以便测量轮子组件的温度,并控制通常封闭的阀门,该阀门连接于气压供应源的内部与外部之间。警报系统与气压供应源相连接,以便当轮子区域一旦达到预定温度就阀门打开时启动。
本发明的另一个目的是提供一种轮端组件,该组件具有如下部件:包括气压供应源的温度警报系统;连接在气压供应源内部与外部之间通常封闭的阀门;与该阀门相连接并当轮子区域一旦达到预定温度时就启动该阀门的热敏控制件,其中,控制件邻接轮子组件而安装,以便测量轮子组件的温度;以及与气压供应源相连接的警报系统,在阀门打开时启动。
还有一个目的是,热敏控制件包括热敏压力障碍物(pressurebarrier)。在一个实施例中,热敏压力障碍物是一个可熔化的塞子,并可以包括易熔合金。

具体实施方式
参看图1和图2,附图标记10概括地表示本发明的高温警报系统,该系统安装在具有车轴12及其轴颈13部分的车辆中。轮子组件11包括轮毂14,该轮毂分别在内轴承与外轴承16与18上转动,而该两个轴承又分别在内轴承座圈(bearing race)与外轴承座圈20与22上转动,并穿过制动鼓24而延伸,而且支承着轮胎及轮子26。如已指出的那样,如果轴承16或18或者制动器24出现故障,轴承16与18、制动鼓24以及轴颈13区域中的温度就可能达到一种温度,在那种情况下,轮胎和及轮子26上的轮胎(未显示)或润滑剂(未显示)就可能被点燃而起火。由于此种故障引起的酷热,还可能使轮毂14和轮胎及轮子26与轮轴12相分离。
本发明的温度警报系统10包括:气压供应源28,该供应源是卡车或车辆上用于各种目的例如制动的常规部件;压力保护阀门30;流量开关32;以及指示器即警报系统指示灯34。气压供应源最好包括轮轴12,该轮轴是空心的并经由管路36而与供应源28相连接,而且该轮轴包括处于轮轴12每个末端上的内塞子37,从而使轮轴12内部形成气压供应源的一部分。
一个或更多个通常封闭的阀门38和40,例如包括可熔化塞子的热敏压力障碍物,连接于气压供应源的内部42与外部44之间。热敏压力障碍物38和40是可熔化的塞子,它们也形成热敏控制件,以便一旦达到预定温度时,启动阀门成障碍物38和40打开与封闭。可熔化塞子38和40包括易熔合金,在预定温度下此种合金就突然熔化。因此,当塞子38和40所在区域达到某种温度时,该合金就会熔化,使空气从空气供应罐(tank)28中泄漏出来。这种情况会被流量开关32检测到,该开关就会启动与车辆司机邻近的警报系统指示灯34,表示出现了问题。热敏压力障碍物38和40安装成邻近轮子组件11的,以便测量轮子组件11的温度。在图2所示实施例中,塞子38和40从轮轴12和轴颈13上朝外延伸,并被定位成与轴承20、22以及制动鼓24相邻接。尽管任何类型的可熔化塞子都符合要求,但以LEEKPRUF为商标而由Mueller Refrigeration股份有限公司(MuellerRefrigeration Company,Inc.)售卖的那种塞子也符合要求。当然,也可使用其他类型的热力操作阀例如热电开关来打开空气供应源,此种开关所操作的是电动阀。而且,尽管使用空心车轴12作为空气供应源的一部分,但也可配置其他类型的空气供应管道。
现在参看图3,该图显示本发明的另一种形式,其相似于图2所示者,例外之处在于热敏压力障碍物或可熔化塞子38a位于末端塞子37当中。这样就使制作以及构造形式简化,但是所安装的热敏压力障碍物及控制件充分靠近热组件(heat assembly)13,以便测量轮毂组件11的温度。
现在参看图4,该图显示本发明的又一种形式,不过,形成为气压系统一部分的轮轴12的内部42,包括分别连接在空气管路36(见图1)与可熔化塞子38以及40之间的空气供应导管(conduit)或管道(tubing)46与48。
现在参看图5,该图显示又一种形式,其中的轮轴12并不形成空气供应源,但是空气导管或管道50连接在空气管路36(见图1)与末端塞子37里的可熔化塞子38b之间。图4和图5所示实施例中的末端塞子37是为了防止轮轴12中的碎屑而设置的。

因此,图6所示的自动轮胎充气系统100已经包括气压供应源116,以及由流量开关32a与警报指示灯34a构成的任何合适的警报系统。使用位于轮子轴承或轴颈113上制动器区域附近的热敏压力障碍物38c,就形成本发明的温度警报系统。此外,如果轴颈达到预定温度,可熔化塞子就会熔化而把空气从空气供应源116中释放出来,而且启动警报系统灯34a以便通知操作者。于是,操作者就能迅速确定,究竟警报系统灯34a是在表示轮胎中的压力泄漏,还是轮毂区域中出现了高温问题。
现在参看图7,本发明的另一种形式显示于该图中,该形式具有自动轮胎充气系统,图中仅显示了该系统转动连接件的静止部分128。在本发明的这一形式中,空气供应源116是经由一内部导管或管道150而供给的,该导管或管道向构件128中的出入口136供给空气,并向热敏压力障碍物或可熔化塞子38d供给空气。
现在参看图8,图中显示的本发明又一种形式包括自动轮胎充气系统,图中仅显示了该系统转动连接件的静止部分128。此外,在这一实施例中,空气供应源116是向轮轴112内部的空气管道或导管150a供给的,并连接着静止部分128中的出入口136。热敏压力障碍物或可熔化塞子38e和40e设置成径向伸出轮轴112,并由空气管子152和154连接到空气供应源管道150a。
现在参看图9,图中显示的是本发明的又一种形式,该形式包括自动轮胎充气系统,图中仅显示了该系统转动连接件的静止部分128。在这一实施例中,空心轮轴112的内部形成为由116向出入口136供给空气的空气供应源部分。此外,设置了径向延伸而穿通轮轴112或轴颈之壁的热敏压力障碍物或塞子38f和40f。

Claims (16)
1.一种具有高温警报系统的轮端组件,包括:
气压供应源;
连接在所述气压供应源的内部与外部之间通常封闭的阀门;
与所述阀门相连接并在达到预定温度时启动该阀门的热敏控制件;
安装成与所述轮端组件相邻接的所述控制件,用于测量该组件的温度;以及
与气压供应源相连接的警报系统,用于在阀门打开时启动。
2.如权利要求1所述系统,其特征在于:热敏控制件包括热敏压力障碍物。
3.如权利要求2所述系统,其特征在于:热敏压力障碍物是可熔化塞子。
4.如权利要求3所述系统,其特征在于:塞子包括易熔合金。

10.如权利要求1所述系统,其特征在于:气压供应源包括自动轮胎充气系统,以便为安装在轴承上的轮毂上的转动轮胎提供空气,该轴承则处在与气压供应源相连接以便接收空气的空心轮轴上;气压供应源还包括处于轮胎与轮轴之间的转动连接件。
11.在一种具有自动轮胎充气系统的车辆中,该系统用于为轮毂上的转动轮胎提供空气,该轮毂安装在空心轮轴的轴承上,而该空心轮轴与用于向轮轴内部供给空气的气压供应源相连接,有一转动连接件在轮胎与轮轴内部的空气之间通联,该系统与高温警报系统结合使用,该其包括:
连接在轮轴内部与外部之间通常封闭的阀门,其与轮轴里的空气相连接;
与所述阀门相连接并在达到预定温度时启动该阀门打开的热敏控制件;
所述控制件安装成与所述轮子组件相邻接,以便测量该轮毂的温度;以及
与空气供应源相连接的警报系统,用于在阀门打开时启动。
12.如权利要求11所述系统,其特征在于:空心轮轴的末端被塞子封住,且热敏控制件包括位于每个塞子中的热敏压力障碍物。
13.如权利要求11所述设备,其特征在于:热敏控制件包括一个或更多个热敏压力障碍物,它们处在与轮子组件里的轴承或制动器相邻接的轮轴中。
14.如权利要求11所述设备,其特征在于:气压供应源包括位于轮轴中,并与一个或更多个热敏压力障碍物相连接的管道。
