Abstract

Description
本发明的技术领域
本发明涉及塑料制品,更具体地涉及着色制品,还涉及它们的制备方法。
本发明的简要说明
公开了一种使聚合物树脂模塑制品着色的方法。优选地,这种制品是用聚碳酸酯模塑的,而该方法要求将该模塑制品浸没在染色浴中,该染色浴含有:
(i)至少一种流平剂,
(ii)至少一种增塑剂,以及
(iii)水。
这种方法特别用于生产着色透镜。
本发明的背景技术
人们熟知聚碳酸酯模塑制品。人们还熟知用有色聚碳酸酯组合物生产着色制品的实用性和方法。也知道使树脂(其中包括聚碳酸酯)模塑制品染色的方法,其中包括使已浸没在特定着色混合物中着色的透镜染色的方法。在这样着色透镜具有的优点中,可以提到减少光透射,还减轻闪光。
US 4 076 496公开了一种适合于硬-涂膜偏光镜片染色的染色浴组合物。该染色浴组合物含有染料和作为溶剂的甘油和乙二醇混合物,任选地还含有较小比例的水或其它的有机溶剂。
US 5 453 100公开了聚碳酸酯材料,将这些材料浸没在染料或颜料混合物溶于溶剂共混物中的溶液里,可使这些材料染色。这种溶剂共混物组成如下:化学侵蚀聚碳酸酯并任其浸渍染料或颜料的浸渍溶剂与减弱浸渍溶剂化学侵蚀的调节溶剂。因此,公开的浸渍溶剂包括至少一种选自二丙二醇单甲醚、三丙二醇单甲醚和丙二醇单甲醚的溶剂。调节有机溶剂包括至少一种选自丙二醇、1,4-丁二醇或乙二醇单甲醚的溶剂。
PCT/CA99/00803(WO 0014325)公开了将塑料制品浸没在含水分散液中,并让该分散液和浸没制品受到微波辐射的照射而使塑料制品着色。JP 53035831 B4公开了在含有分散染料和邻苯二甲酸二烯丙酯、o-苯基酚或苯甲醇的含水分散液中进行染色的聚碳酸酯模具。另外,JP 55017156公开了用含有染料和水的液体着色的脂族聚碳酸酯透镜。JP 56031085(JP-104863)公开了在脂族酮和多羟基醇中含有分散染料的组合物,据说这种组合物用于在室温下使聚碳酸酯薄膜着色。JP 2000248476公开了模塑聚碳酸酯螺栓,这种螺栓先用含有染料和阴离子流平剂的溶液染色,然后再用含有二氧化硫脲的溶液处理。
US 4 812 142公开了在沸点至少350°F的染料溶剂中,在200°F或200°F以上的温度下染色的聚碳酸酯制品,US 3 514 246公开了把模塑的聚碳酸酯制品浸没在乳化染料液中,这种乳化染料液含有不溶于水的染料、油溶性的表面活性剂,它们溶于脂族烃溶剂和水中。用聚(氧化亚乙基)衍生物代替该表面活性剂重复该方法,也得到类似的结果。US 3 532 454公开了用一种染料组合物染色聚碳酸酯纤维,该组合物含有至少一种烷氧基烷基苯甲醚、亚烷基二醇二苯甲醚、苯甲酸烷氧基烷基酯或苯氧基醋酸-烷氧基烷基酯。US 3 630 664公开了一种要求有符合特定化学式的碳酸酯,例如乙基-苯甲基-碳酸酯的染色浴。
本发明的详细描述
本发明的方法和本发明的染色浴组合物可用于用多种树脂模塑组合物模塑的塑料制品的染色。合适的树脂包括热塑性和热固性组合物两种。在合适的树脂中,可以提到(共)聚酯、(共)聚碳酸酯(其中包括芳族和脂族聚碳酸酯,例如碳酸烯丙基二甘醇酯,像商品名CR-30)、聚酯聚碳酸酯共聚物、苯乙烯共聚物,例如SAN和丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯共聚物(ABS)、丙烯酸聚合物,例如聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯和ASA、聚酰胺和聚氨酯以及这些树脂中一种或多种共混物。特别地,本发明可应用于聚碳酸酯,非常特别地应用于热塑性的芳族聚碳酸酯。
适用于本发明方法的用于模塑制品的模塑组合物,可以含有在这些组合物中其功能是本技术领域中人们已知的任何添加剂,包括至少一种脱模剂、填料、呈纤维或薄片,非常特别地金属薄片,例如铝薄片形式的增强剂、阻燃剂、颜料和遮光剂,例如二氧化钛等、光漫射剂,例如聚四氟乙烯、氧化锌、Rohm and Hass的Paraloid EXL-5136和交联的聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯小球(例如Nagase America的n-licrosphere)、紫外光稳定剂、电解质稳定剂和热稳定剂。
通常采用在塑料技术领域中已实施的方法可以生产根据本发明方法染色的制品,其中包括采用压塑、注塑、滚塑、挤塑、注坯和挤坯吹塑和铸塑模塑的制品,生产这些制品的方法对实施本发明方法不是关键。这些制品可以是任何各种各样有用产品,其中包括计算机面板、键盘、仪表前盖和便携式电话、任何类型的彩色编码包装物和容器,其中包括工业元件的彩色编码包装物和容器、家用和商用照明器材及其元件,例如在建筑物和构架中使用的板、餐具,其中包括盘子、杯和吃饭器皿、小用具及其元件、光学镜和太阳镜以及装饰膜,其中包括意欲用于薄膜镶嵌模塑的这样薄膜。
在本发明范围内特别合适的聚合物树脂包括选自聚酯、聚碳酸酯、聚酯聚碳酸酯共聚物、丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯共聚物(ABS)、聚酰胺、聚氨酯、聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯和苯乙烯共聚物的一种或两种或两种以上的混合物。苯乙烯共聚物,非常特别地苯乙烯-丙烯腈共聚物因此是合适的时,本发明的方法不应用于均聚苯乙烯的染色。
根据本发明,待着色的模塑制品,优选地透镜,浸没在染色浴混合物中,浸没的时间与温度足以有利于至少一些染料浸渍或扩散到该制品本体中,因此使其着色。对于用芳族聚碳酸酯制成的制品着色,可以在温度约90-99℃下进行这种浸没,其浸没时间典型地少于1小时,非常优选地是1-15分钟。但是,由于吸收染料的效率,热畸变温度低的热塑性树脂可以在比聚碳酸酯低的温度下进行染色。例如,使用典型地用于聚碳酸酯着色的溶液组合物,只是分别加热到约60℃和90℃就可以很容易使聚氨酯和SAN染色。着色制品然后按照要求的速度取出,其中包括速度足以达到着色梯度,在该混合物中仍很长的这部分制品浸渍最多的染料,因此它具有最深的色调。
该染色浴混合物含有:
(a)50-90,优选地62.5-85,非常优选地70-77.5pbw的水(以染色浴混合物重量计的重量百分数);
(b)染料量足以达到着色,一般地是0.1-15,优选地0.3-5,非常优选地0.4-2pbw;
(c)2.5-20,优选地5-12.5,非常优选地7.5-10pbw的至少一种符合下式的增塑剂:

特别合适的增塑剂选自乙二醇丁醚、二甘醇乙醚、二甘醇丁醚、丙二醇丙醚、二丙二醇丙醚和三丙二醇丙醚。
特别合适的流平剂选自二甘醇、三甘醇和1,4-丁二醇。
本发明使用的染料是通常的染料,其中包括织物染料和分散染料以及在该技术领域中已知适合于聚碳酸酯染色的染料。
合适的分散染料实例包括Disperse Blue #3、Disperse Blue #4、Disperse Yellow #3、Disperse Red #13和Disperse Red #17。本说明书中提到的染料是根据The Society of Dyes and Colors和theAmerican Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists联合出版的《染料索引(The Colour Index)》,第3版(1971)分类和命名的,本文将该书作为参考文献加以引用。染料一般可以作为单个染料成分使用,或根据颜色要求,可以作为染料混合物中的一个成分使用。因此,本文使用的术语染料包括染料混合物。
称为“溶剂染料”的染料类在实施本发明时是有用的。这类染料包括优选的染料Solvent Blue 35、Solvent Green 3和AcridineOrange Base。但是,溶剂染料一般不如分散染料染色深。
在合适的染料中,特别提到不溶于水的偶氮染料、二苯胺和蒽醌混合物。特别合适的是醋酸染料、分散的醋酸染料、分散染料和散胶染料,例如分别在《染料索引》,第3版,第2卷,The Society of Dyersand Colourists,1971年,第2479页和第2187-2743页中公开的,本文将其全部作为参考文献加以引用。优选的分散染料包括Dystar′sPalanil Blue E-R150(蒽醌/Disperse Blue)和DIANIX Orange E-3RN(偶氮染料/CI Disperse Orange 25)。应指出,根据本发明的方法,酚红和4-苯基偶氮酚不使聚碳酸酯染色。
实施本发明时,称之“直接染料”的染料和称之“酸染料”的染料不适合于聚碳酸酯;但是,酸染料对尼龙是有效的。
可以改变该混合物中的染料使用量;但是,典型地需要少量就足以使本发明的制品着色。颜色浴中代表性染料浓度是0.4pbw,但在这点上范围却很大。一般地,染料在溶剂混合物中的含量可以是约0.1-15pbw,优选地0.3-0.5pbw。当使用染料混合物,并且单个组分的消耗速率彼此又不同时,染料组分应加到颜色浴中而使它们在颜色浴中的比例保持基本不变。
颜色浴任选地可以含有乳化剂,其量至多15pbw,优选地0.5-5pbw,非常优选地3-4pbw。本发明范围内合适的乳化剂是一种能将两种或两种以上不能混合的液体或固体(例如水和载体)保持在悬浮液中的物质。可以使用的乳化剂包括离子的、非离子的乳化剂或其混合物。代表性的离子乳化剂是阴离子乳化剂,其中包括羧酸、氨基磺酸或磷酸的胺盐或碱金属盐,例如月桂基硫酸钠、月桂基硫酸铵、木质素磺酸盐、乙二胺四乙酸(EDTA)钠盐,和胺的酸式盐,例如月桂胺盐酸盐或聚(氧-1,2-乙二基)α-硫-ω-羟基醚与1-(甲基苯基)乙基酚衍生物铵盐;或两性的乳化剂,即具有阴离子和阳离子基团的化合物,例如月桂基磺基甜菜碱;二羟基乙基烷基甜菜碱;椰子油酸基酰胺基甜菜碱;N-月桂基氨基丙酸二钠;或二甲酸椰子油衍生物钠盐。代表性的非离子乳化剂包括乙氧基化或丙氧基化烷基或芳基酚化合物,例如辛基苯氧基聚氧乙烯乙醇或苯乙烯化的聚(氧-1,2-乙二基)α-苯基-ω-羟基。优选的乳化剂是C14-C18和C16-C18乙氧基化不饱和脂肪酸和聚(氧-1,2-乙二基)α-硫-ω-羟基醚与1-(甲基苯基)乙基酚衍生物铵盐和苯乙烯化的聚(氧-1,2-乙二基)α-苯基-ω-羟基的混合物。
可以使用例如在“Lens Prep II”中描述的乳化剂,一种BrainPower International(BPI)的商品。
根据本发明的具体实施方案,把本发明的合适树脂模塑制品,优选地聚碳酸酯组合物模塑制品浸没在本发明的染色浴中。为了减少加工时间,同时保持最低的蒸发损失,可以将一些染色浴加热到低于100℃,优选地低于96℃的温度。在染色过程中,根据本发明,优选的是染色浴温度低于该浴处于沸腾状态的温度。该染色浴的最佳温度在一定程度上受到聚碳酸酯分子量,其添加剂和染料化学性质的影响。
在使用聚碳酸酯制得的部件着色的优选具体实施方案中,适合于与聚碳酸酯组合物混配的已知染料与增塑剂、流平剂、水和任选的表面活性剂混合,生成染色浴混合物。根据本发明,该制品浸没在染色浴中,仅仅几分钟后就取出,得到着色产品。该制品应仍浸没在染色浴中的时间长短和加工条件取决于要求的着色度。
自然地,染料浓度越高,温度增加染色速率也应越高。
为了达到分级着色,模塑制品可以浸没在染色浴中,然后缓慢地从中取出。因为在该混合物中仍很长的这部分制品浸渍非常多的染料,因此可达到分级着色。
参看下面提出的实施例可更充分地理解本发明。这些实施例决不认为是限制性的,而只是作为说明本发明的。
实施例
论证了有关用聚碳酸酯模塑制品的方法。在下表中列出染色浴组分及其它们的相对量,该表汇总了几个实验的结果。该染色浴保持在95℃,然后浸没待着色的模塑制品。从该染色浴取出部件,用大量的水冲洗去掉任何微量的过量染料,再干燥。可以调节浸没时间、染料浓度和混合温度,以达到所要求的色泽和色密度。下表汇总了根据本发明进行的几个实验的结果。根据这些实验着色的制品是用聚碳酸酯,Makrolon 3107,双酚A基均聚碳酸酯,其MFR是5-7.5克/分钟(根据ASTM D 1238),Bayer Corporation的产品模塑的。根据ASTMD 1003测定了透光度,TLT(%)和雾度(%)。所有制品在染色浴中浸没10分钟,实施例3除外,该实施例的时间是30分钟。下面还列出以染色浴重量计以重量百分数报告了染色浴中增塑剂和流平剂的含量,余量为水。所有实验使用的染料是Palini Blue,该染料量是每升染色浴4克,实施例16除外,该实施例的染料量是每升2克。

可以容易看到,本发明的着色对实施例7和14染色浴组成很敏感,这些实施例使用了非常类似的化合物(分别PGEEA和PGBE),代替本发明的增塑剂,造成染料分散性差。另外,实施例10使用的流平剂量不足,认为其结果不均匀,而实施例11未使用任何流平剂,认为染料分散得很差。

Claims (16)
1、一种模塑制品的染色方法,该方法包括下述步骤:
(i)让至少一部分所述制品浸没在温度保持在90-99℃的染色浴中,
(ii)让所述部分留在所述染色浴中一段时间,从而足以让一定量的染料扩散到所述制品中,以及
(iii)从所述染色浴中取出所述制品,
其中,模塑制品含有至少一种选自下述的聚合物树脂:(共)聚酯、(共)聚碳酸酯、聚酰胺、聚氨酯、聚(甲基)丙烯酸烷基酯和苯乙烯共聚物,并且其中该染色浴含有:
(a)相对于染色浴重量的50-90pbw水;
(b)0.1-15pbw染料;
(c)2.5-20pbw的至少一种符合下式的增塑剂:
R′-[(O(CH2)m)n--]OH
式中R′是乙基、丙基或丁基,
m是2、3或4,以及
n是1、2或3,
其条件:R′是丁基时,m是2或4,以及
(d)5-30pbw的至少一种在结构上符合下式的流平剂:
H-[(O(CH2)m)n--]OH
式中m是2、3或4,以及
n是1、2或3。
2、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中苯乙烯共聚物是丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯共聚物。
3、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中(共)聚碳酸酯是碳酸烯丙基二甘醇酯。
4、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该染色浴还含有表面活性剂。
5、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该染料是分散染料。
6、根据权利要求5所述的方法,其中该染色浴还含有表面活性剂。
7、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中染料是一种选自偶氮染料、二苯胺和蒽醌化合物的不溶于水的染料。
8、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该树脂是芳族聚碳酸酯。
9、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该增塑剂选自乙二醇丁醚、二甘醇乙醚、二甘醇丁醚、丙二醇丙醚、二丙二醇丙醚和三丙二醇丙醚。
10、根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中该流平剂选自二甘醇、三甘醇和1,4-丁二醇。
11、一种根据权利要求1的方法制备的含有树脂组分、染料、增塑剂和流平剂的物质组合物,其中树脂组分含有选自(共)聚酯、(共)聚碳酸酯、聚酰胺、聚氨酯、聚(甲基)丙烯酸烷基酯和苯乙烯共聚物中的至少一种,其中增塑剂符合下式:
R′-[(O(CH2)m)n--]OH
式中R′是乙基、丙基或丁基,m是2、3或4,以及n是1、2或3,其条件:R′是丁基时,m是2或4,以及
其中流平剂在结构上符合下式:
H-[(O(CH2)m)n--]OH
式中m是2、3或4,以及n是1、2或3。
12、根据权利要求11所述的物质组合物,其中苯乙烯共聚物是丙烯腈-丁二烯-苯乙烯共聚物。
13、根据权利要求11所述的物质组合物,其中(共)聚碳酸酯是碳酸烯丙基二甘醇酯。
14、根据权利要求11所述的物质组合物,它还含有表面活性剂。
15、采用权利要求1所述方法制备的浸渍染色制品。
16、采用权利要求5所述方法制备的浸渍染色制品。
