The present application provides a system and method for improving color uniformity of a display panel, and particularly refer to fig. 1-5.
The color of the display panel is not uniform under a pure white picture after the existing display panel is matched with an on-chip system or a central control panel. The gray scale values of yellow display frames or blue display frames of the display panel are acquired through gray scale capturing software to be collected and analyzed, results are displayed, the gray scale values of RGB sub-pixels in the blue display frames and the yellow display frames are 255-order, no difference exists, and color difference does not occur, namely when an on-chip system or a central control board is not matched, the display frames of the display panel are changed in brightness and darkness, but after the on-chip system or the central control board is matched, signals between the on-chip system or the central control board and the display panel have a bit conversion relation, so that the corresponding gray scale values are changed, the display colors of partial areas of the display panel are changed, and the phenomenon of uneven display is caused. The color uniformity technology of the display panel is a color demura (color compensation) technology, is similar to a demura (brightness compensation), and is different in that the demura technology is not uniform in brightness, the color demura is mainly non-uniform in color in a display surface, and the color demura realizes improvement of color uniformity by integrating algorithms in a driving chip and adjusting gray scales of display pictures in different areas.
Referring to fig. 1, a schematic block diagram of a system for improving color uniformity of a display panel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure is shown. The system for improving the color uniformity of the display panel comprises: the data detection module 1 and the data conversion module 2; the data detection module 1 is configured to obtain actual tristimulus values of 0-255 gray-scale red sub-pixels, green sub-pixels, blue sub-pixels and white sub-pixels of a display panel to be detected when a white balance state is closed, find inverted tristimulus values of the actual tristimulus values of the red sub-pixels, the green sub-pixels, the blue sub-pixels or the white sub-pixels, and find the actual tristimulus values corresponding to the inverted tristimulus values of the remaining three sub-pixels at the inverted tristimulus values according to the inverted tristimulus values corresponding to one of the red sub-pixels, the green sub-pixels, the blue sub-pixels or the white sub-pixels, which are detected by the data detection module 1; the data conversion module 2 is configured to calculate a luminance value of 0-255 gray scales according to a set gamma curve, calculate theoretical tristimulus values of 0-255 gray scales of various sub-pixels according to the actual tristimulus values of 0-255 gray scales of various sub-pixels and the luminance value of 0-255 gray scales of various sub-pixels, output, in the sub-pixels having the inverted tristimulus values, gray scale values that are greater than the gray scale value corresponding to the generated inverted tristimulus value and are lower than the actual tristimulus values with the gray scale value of the inverted tristimulus value, and perform bit conversion on the gray scale values of the inverted tristimulus values in the data conversion module 2 and transmit the gray scale values to the display panel 11 to be detected.
When the display panel is manufactured, in order to reduce the cost, an 8-bit detection tool is usually used to detect image data of a 10-bit display panel, the 8-bit displayable gray scale is 256 levels, the number of the 10-bit displayable gray scale is 1024 levels, the 8-bit data includes 8 bits, the 10-bit data includes 10 bits, when the 10-bit data is directly output, only the first 8 bits of data are displayed, and the last 2 bits are lost, so that the displayable gray scale is only 256 levels, and in order to make the finally output displayed image still have the 10-bit gray scale, the 8-bit data needs to be converted so that the finally output displayed image can display 1024 gray scales.
In general, the decay rate and the luminous efficiency of the color of the blue sub-pixel are lower than those of the sub-pixels of other colors, as can be seen from fig. 2 to 4, in the 0-255 gray scale state (the abscissa is the gray scale value, and the ordinate is the luminance), the actual tristimulus values curve of the red sub-pixel and the green sub-pixel shows a gradually increasing trend, while in the actual tristimulus values curve of the blue sub-pixel, there is a descending trend at a position, that is, the blue sub-pixel generates the inverted tristimulus values, if the display panel keeps outputting in this state during the actual display, in the output after the gray scale value of the inverted tristimulus values is generated, the chromaticity and the luminance of the blue sub-pixel show a descending trend compared with the sub-pixels of other two colors, which affects the uniformity of the display color of the display panel. Therefore, in order to improve this situation, the gray scale value of the blue sub-pixel after the generation of the inversion tristimulus value needs to be maintained at the inversion tristimulus value for output. Similarly, if the sub-pixels of other colors have the inverse tristimulus values, the corresponding sub-pixels need to be output in a state that the gray-scale values of the sub-pixels are larger than the gray-scale values after the inverse tristimulus values are generated and are maintained at the inverse tristimulus values, so as to improve the brightness and color uniformity of the display panel.
In an embodiment of the present application, the actual tristimulus values corresponding to the sub-pixels of each color at each gray level are different, that is, at each gray level, the actual stimulus values corresponding to the sub-pixels of each color include three directions, a first direction X stimulus value, a second direction Y stimulus value, and a third direction Z stimulus value, and the first direction X stimulus value, the second direction Y stimulus value, and the third direction Z stimulus value corresponding to each sub-pixel at each gray level are different.
In an embodiment of the present application, the data detection module 1 and the data conversion module 2 form a closed loop to facilitate conversion and processing between the detection signal and the data signal.
In an embodiment of the present application, the data detection module 1 includes: a display panel 11 to be tested and a detection tool 12; the data conversion module 2 includes: the driver chip 21. One end of the driving chip 21 is electrically connected to the display panel 11 to be detected, and the other end of the driving chip 21 is electrically connected to the detection tool 12.
Further, the detection tool 12 is a central control board or a system on a chip. Namely, the working process of the system for improving the color uniformity of the display panel is as follows: the central control board processes the image data signal according to the theoretical RGB gray-scale value of 0-255 gray-scale white balance, converts the image data signal into an LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) signal for driving the display panel, and transmits the LVDS signal to the LVDS driving chip of the display panel to be tested.
In one embodiment of the present application, the set gamma curve is gamma 2.2.
Referring to fig. 5, the present application further provides a method for improving color uniformity of a display panel, using the system for improving color uniformity of a display panel, the method comprising the steps of:
and S10, controlling the display panel to be detected to close the white balance mode through the detection tool, detecting a plurality of different region points of the display panel to be detected in the data detection module, respectively recording the brightness value of each point in a 0-255 gray scale state, and drawing a corresponding gamma curve.
S20, respectively obtaining 0-255 gray scales in the data detection module, drawing an actual tristimulus value curve graph corresponding to each sub-pixel with different colors, finding out a point corresponding to the sub-pixel generating the reversal tristimulus value from the actual tristimulus value graph, taking the point corresponding to the sub-pixel generating the reversal tristimulus value as a first inflection point, and recording the gray scale value of the first inflection point.
And S30, respectively finding out the actual stimulus values of the current gray scale value and the rest two directions according to the gray scale value corresponding to the first inflection point, respectively finding out the actual stimulus values of a second inflection point, a third inflection point and a fourth inflection point corresponding to the other three sub-pixels, and recording the actual stimulus values of the second inflection point, the third inflection point and the fourth inflection point.
And S40, in the data conversion module, converting the gray-scale values corresponding to the first inflection point, the second inflection point, the third inflection point and the fourth inflection point measured in the data detection module into gray-scale values of a fifth inflection point, a sixth inflection point, a seventh inflection point and an eighth inflection point for the display of the display panel to be tested, and keeping the display panel to be tested at the gray-scale values of the fifth inflection point, the sixth inflection point, the seventh inflection point and the eighth inflection point for output.
In an embodiment of the present application, the specific operation of the step "S40" is as follows: the data conversion module converts the octal gray scale value detected in the detection tool into a decimal gray scale value of the display panel to be detected, that is, the data conversion module converts the gray scale values of the first inflection point, the second inflection point, the third inflection point and the fourth inflection point in octal into the gray scale values of the fifth inflection point, the sixth inflection point, the seventh inflection point and the eighth inflection point in decimal, that is, when the display panel displays, the reverse rotation tri-stimulus value is found to appear first at a certain gray scale when the actual tri-stimulus value of a sub-pixel of a certain color is found, the reverse rotation tri-stimulus value is called as the first inflection point, and the gray scale values of sub-pixels of other colors corresponding to the gray scale value generating the reverse rotation tri-stimulus value are called as the second inflection point, the third inflection point and the fourth inflection point respectively, when the gray scale values of the first inflection point, the second inflection point, the third inflection point and the fourth inflection point in the detection tool are converted to the display panel to be detected, the gray scale values of the fifth inflection point, the sixth inflection point, the seventh inflection point and the eighth inflection point become decimal.
Generally speaking, green is the most critical point for determining the brightness of the display panel, and therefore, the green gray scale is determined according to the brightness of the white of the k gray scale, that is, the gray scale value of G in the RGB gray scale values, and then the color coordinate xy of the white sub-pixel of the k gray scale is analyzed, and the tristimulus values of the red sub-pixel and the blue sub-pixel of each gray scale are searched in the original data, so that the color coordinate after the combination of the three colors of red, green and blue is closest to the color coordinate xy of the white of the k gray scale, and thus the gray scales of the red sub-pixel, the green sub-pixel and the blue sub-pixel are preliminarily determined, for example, the preliminarily determined RGB sub-pixel of the n gray scale, the blue sub-pixel of the p gray scale and the green sub-pixel of the m gray scale, and the corresponding gray scale values.
Of course, the luminance of the white sub-pixel composed of the n-gray-scale red sub-pixel, the p-gray-scale blue sub-pixel and the m-gray-scale green sub-pixel may be different from the luminance of the k-gray-scale white sub-pixel, generally, the luminance of the white sub-pixel composed of the n-gray-scale red sub-pixel, the p-gray-scale blue sub-pixel and the m-gray-scale green sub-pixel is higher than the luminance of the k-gray-scale white sub-pixel, so that the luminances of the red sub-pixel, the green sub-pixel and the blue sub-pixel are all decreased by i grays, for example, by 1 grayscale, for example, it is finally determined that the luminances of the white sub-pixel composed of the n-i gray-scale red sub-pixel, the p-i gray-scale blue sub-pixel and the m-i gray-scale green sub-pixel are consistent with. At this time, the determined color coordinates of the white composed of the n-i gray scale red sub-pixel, the p-i gray scale blue sub-pixel and the m-i gray scale green sub-pixel generally conform to the color coordinates of the k gray scale white sub-pixel. If the determined n-i gray scale red sub-pixel, p-i gray scale blue sub-pixel and m-i gray scale green sub-pixel form a white color coordinate which does not accord with the color coordinate of the k gray scale white, the adjustment is carried out again by the method for determining the red gray scale and the blue gray scale, and finally the theoretical RGB gray scale value of the k gray scale white can be determined.
The measured tristimulus values of the red, green and blue sub-pixels can be substituted into the chromaticity conversion formula according to the grayscale chromaticity conversion formula X/(X + Y + Z), and then converted into grayscale chromaticity coordinates of the red, green and blue sub-pixels.
Therefore, the system and the method for improving the color uniformity of the display panel have the advantages that: the application provides a system and a method for improving color uniformity of a display panel, wherein the system comprises: the data detection module and the data conversion module; and after the data detection module finds out the actual tristimulus values of 0-255 gray scales of the sub-pixels with different colors after closing the white balance mode, and finds out the gray scale values corresponding to the sub-pixels generating the reverse tristimulus values, so that the sub-pixels generating the reverse tristimulus values keep outputting the gray scale values of the reverse tristimulus values at the positions where the gray scale values are larger than the gray scale values generating the reverse tristimulus values and the actual tristimulus values are smaller than the reverse tristimulus values, the actual gray scale values of the sub-pixels generating the reverse tristimulus values at the attenuated gray scale values are improved, the uniformity of the colors of the display panel is improved, and the problem of color cast in the display panel is effectively solved.
