Abstract
The invention relates to an expansion module and a server. An expansion module comprises a mounting frame, at least one adapter card, at least one expansion assembly, a front cover, a side cover and at least one fastener. The mounting frame is provided with at least one mounting space. At least one adapter card is arranged on the mounting frame and is positioned in at least one mounting space. At least one expansion assembly comprises two expansion cards. The two expansion cards are arranged in a double-layer manner and are positioned in at least one installation space. Each expansion card comprises a card body and a baffle. The baffle is arranged on the card body and provided with a first locking part. The front cover is arranged on the mounting frame and is provided with a second locking part, and the first locking part of the baffle plate corresponds to the second locking part. At least one fastener is locked to the second locking portion through the side cover and the first locking portion to shield the side cover from the side edge of the front cover.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of expansion modules, and in particular, to an expansion module and a server.
Background
In computer systems, expansion cards have a variety of uses, such as image processing, network interfaces, peripheral interfaces, storing data, and the like. The user can install the expansion card with the required purpose in the computer system according to the own requirement so as to expand the functions of the computer.
When a user installs a plurality of expansion cards in a 1U server, the position of installing the expansion cards is usually adjusted. However, to adjust the position of installing the expansion card, a gap may be generated between the chassis and the cover of the server, thereby affecting the appearance and the security specification test. Therefore, how to reduce the gap between the housing and the cover of the server is one of the problems that should be solved by the developer.
Disclosure of Invention
Based on this, the present invention provides an expansion module and a server, so as to reduce the gap between the housing and the cover of the server.
An expansion module according to an embodiment of the invention includes a mounting frame, at least one adapter card, at least one expansion assembly, a front cover, a side cover, and at least one fastener. The mounting frame is provided with at least one mounting space. At least one adapter card is arranged on the mounting frame and is positioned in at least one mounting space. At least one expansion assembly comprises two expansion cards. The two expansion cards are arranged in a double-layer manner and are positioned in at least one installation space. Each expansion card comprises a card body and a baffle. The baffle is arranged on the card body and provided with a first locking part. The front cover is arranged on the mounting frame and is provided with a second locking part, and the first locking part of the baffle plate corresponds to the second locking part. At least one fastener is locked to the second locking portion through the side cover and the first locking portion to shield the side cover from the side edge of the front cover.
In another embodiment of the present invention, a server includes a housing and an expansion module. The height of the shell is 1U. The height of the expansion module is less than or equal to 1U, and the expansion module comprises a mounting frame, at least one adapter card, at least one expansion assembly, a front cover, a side cover and at least one fastener. The mounting frame is provided with at least one mounting space. At least one adapter card is arranged on the mounting frame and is positioned in at least one mounting space. At least one expansion assembly comprises two expansion cards. The two expansion cards are arranged in a double-layer manner and are positioned in at least one installation space. Each expansion card comprises a card body and a baffle. The baffle is arranged on the card body and provided with a first locking part. The front cover is arranged on the mounting frame and is provided with a second locking part, and the first locking part of the baffle plate corresponds to the second locking part. At least one fastener is locked to the second locking portion through the side cover and the first locking portion to shield the side cover from the side edge of the front cover.
According to the expansion module and the server of the embodiments, the expansion module is additionally provided with the side cover outside the installation space of the server to cover the gap between the cover and the front cover of the server provided with the double-layer expansion card, so that the requirements of appearance and safety specification test can be met at the same time.

Detailed Description
Please refer to fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a server according to an embodiment of the invention. The server 10 of the present embodiment includes a housing 20, an expansion module 30, and a cover 40. The height of the casing 20 is, for example, 1U. The height of the expansion module 30 is, for example, 1U or less. The 1U is a rack unit for calibrating equipment in a machine room such as a server, and the height of the rack unit is 4.445 centimeters.
Please refer to fig. 2 to fig. 4. Fig. 2 is an exploded view of the server shown in fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an exploded view of the expansion module of fig. 1. Fig. 4 is an exploded view of the side cover and fastener of fig. 2.
In one embodiment, the expansion module 30 comprises a mounting frame 31, at least one adapter card 32, at least one expansion assembly 33, a front cover 34, at least one side cover 35, and at least one fastener 36. The mounting frame 31 has at least one mounting space 311. At least one adapter card 32 is mounted on the mounting frame 31 and located in at least one mounting space 311. Each expansion device 33 includes two expansion cards 331. Two expansion cards 331 are arranged in a double-layer manner and are located in one of the installation spaces 311.
In the present embodiment, the expansion module 30 includes a mounting frame 31, four adapter cards 32, two expansion modules 33, a front cover 34, two side covers 35 and four fasteners 36. The mounting frame 31 has two mounting spaces 311. The four adapter cards 32 are installed on the installation frame 31 and are respectively located in the two installation spaces 311. Each adapter card 32 has an adapter card slot 321. The two expansion components 33 are respectively located in the two installation spaces 311. Each expansion device 33 includes two expansion cards 331. Specifically, two expansion cards 331 are arranged in a double-layer manner and located in one of the installation spaces 311, and four expansion cards 331 are respectively plugged into four adapter cards 32.
In one embodiment, expansion card 331 is a PCIE card.
In one embodiment, each expansion card 331 includes a card body 3311 and a stop 3312. Specifically, the card body 3311 is, for example, a circuit board, and the shielding plate 3312 is, for example, an iron plate.
In one embodiment, the card body 3311 is inserted into at least one adapter card 32. The blocking piece 3312 is disposed on the card body 3311 and has a first locking portion 33121. Specifically, the card body 3311 is inserted into the adapter card slot 321 of the adapter card 32.
In one embodiment, the front cover 34 is mounted on the mounting frame 31 and has at least one second locking portion 341. And the first locking portion 33121 of the flap 3312 corresponds to the second locking portion 341. Specifically, the front cover 34 has two second locking portions 341 on opposite sides thereof. In this embodiment, the first locking portion 33121 and the second locking portion 341 are through holes.
In one embodiment, the at least one fastener 36 is fastened to the at least one second fastening portion 341 through the at least one side cover 35 and the first fastening portion 33121, such that the at least one side cover 35 covers the side of the front cover 34.
Since the second locking portions 341 and the side covers 35 located on opposite sides of the front cover 34 are identical in structure and connection relationship, only the second locking portions 341 and the side covers 35 on one side of the front cover 34 will be described. The two fasteners 36 pass through the side cover 35 and the first locking portion 33121 to be locked to the second locking portion 341, so that the side cover 35 covers the side edge of the front cover 34 and is fixed to the flap 3312. For example, the side cover 35 is made of plastic. For example, fastener 36 is a stepped screw.
Please refer to fig. 5. Fig. 5 is a schematic top view of the expansion module of fig. 1. The cover 40 is mounted to the housing 20, and a gap G is maintained between the cover 40 and the front cover 34. The side covers 35 shield the gap G.
In the present embodiment, since two expansion cards 331 are installed in a dual-layer arrangement in an installation space 311 of a 1U server, the installation position is adjusted to enable a motherboard (not shown) to be aligned with the expansion cards 331 so as to install the expansion cards 331. However, the above-mentioned mounting method can generate a gap G between the front cover 34 and the cover 40, which affects the appearance and the safety specification, so two side covers 35 are added on two opposite sides of the front cover 34 to cover the gap G, thereby achieving the appearance integrity and the safety specification test.
In one embodiment, the number of the installation space 311, the adapter card 32 and the expansion component 33 is two, and the two adapter cards 32 and the two expansion components 33 are respectively located in the two installation spaces 311.
In the present embodiment, the number of the installation spaces 311 of the installation frame 31 is two, each installation space 311 can accommodate two expansion cards 331, and four expansion cards 331 are respectively plugged into four adapter cards 32, but not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the number of installation spaces of the installation rack may be only one, the installation space may accommodate two expansion cards, and the two expansion cards are respectively plugged into the two adapter cards.
In the present embodiment, the number of the switch cards 32 in each installation space 311 is two, and each switch card 32 has a switch card slot 321, but not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the number of the switch cards in each installation space may be only one, and each switch card has two switch card slots.
In the present embodiment, the number of the installation spaces 311 for accommodating the expansion card 331 is two, and the two installation spaces 311 are arranged side by side, so the number of the side covers 35 is two, and the two side covers 35 are respectively covered on the opposite sides of the front cover 34 and are fixed on the blocking sheets 3312 of the expansion card 331, but not limited thereto. In other embodiments, the number of installation spaces for accommodating the expansion card may be only one, so the number of side covers may be only one, and the side covers are covered on the side edges of the front cover and fixed on the baffle plate of the expansion card.
According to the expansion module and the server of the embodiments, the expansion module is additionally provided with the side cover outside the installation space of the server to cover the gap between the cover and the front cover of the server provided with the double-layer expansion card, so that the requirements of appearance and safety specification test can be met at the same time.
Although the present invention has been described with reference to the above embodiments, it should be understood that the invention is not limited thereto, but rather, it should be apparent to one skilled in the art that modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
Claims (7)
1. An expansion module, the expansion module comprising:
the mounting frame is provided with at least one mounting space;
the adapter card is arranged on the mounting frame and is positioned in the at least one mounting space;
the at least one expansion assembly comprises two expansion cards, wherein the two expansion cards are arranged in a double-layer manner and positioned in the at least one installation space, each expansion card comprises a card body and a baffle, the card body is inserted into the at least one adapter card, and the baffle is arranged on the card body and provided with a first locking part;
the front cover is arranged on the mounting frame and is provided with at least one second locking part, and the first locking part of the baffle plate corresponds to the at least one second locking part; and
the at least one side cover and the at least one fastening piece penetrate through the at least one side cover and the first locking attachment part to be locked and attached to the at least one second locking attachment part, so that the at least one side cover covers the side edge of the front cover.
2. The expansion module of claim 1, wherein the number of the installation space, the adapter card and the expansion assembly is two, and the two adapter cards and the two expansion assemblies are respectively located in the two installation spaces.
3. The expansion module of claim 1, wherein the expansion card is a PCIE card.
4. A server, comprising:
the shell is 1U in height; and
the height of the expansion module is less than or equal to 1U, and the expansion module comprises:
the mounting frame is provided with at least one mounting space;
the adapter card is arranged on the mounting frame and is positioned in the at least one mounting space;
the expansion assembly comprises two expansion cards which are arranged in a double-layer manner and positioned in the at least one installation space, each expansion card comprises a card body and a baffle plate, and the baffle plate is arranged on the card body and provided with a first locking part;
the front cover is arranged on the mounting frame and is provided with at least one second locking part, and the first locking part of the baffle plate corresponds to the at least one second locking part; and
the at least one side cover and the at least one fastening piece penetrate through the at least one side cover and the first locking attachment part to be locked and attached to the at least one second locking attachment part, so that the at least one side cover covers the side edge of the front cover.
5. The server according to claim 4, wherein the number of the installation space, the adapter card and the expansion assembly is two, and the two adapter cards and the two expansion assemblies are respectively located in the two installation spaces.
6. The server of claim 4, wherein the expansion card is a PCIE card.
7. The server of claim 4, further comprising a cover mounted to the chassis with a gap maintained between the cover and the front cover, the at least one side cover concealing the gap.
