The detection method and the device can overcome the defects that the Chinese herbal medicine square investigation checks are not easy to carry and low in precision in the prior art, and can quickly and accurately count the coverage of a certain species in an investigation region.

At present, when grassland vegetation is investigated for a certain area, due to the limitation of various reasons such as time, expenses, personnel and the like, the coverage of all vegetation in the grassland cannot be estimated and counted one by one, only a part of vegetation can be extracted for research, namely sampling detection is carried out, and the selection of a sample plot and the selection of a herbal sample in the sample plot all have standard operation.
In the prior art, methods for estimating the coverage of herbaceous plants in herbaceous sample prescriptions mainly include a needle punching method, a line segment method and an estimation method (an eye measurement method), wherein the eye measurement method has wide application in herbaceous investigation due to the implementation convenience compared with the needle punching method and the line segment method due to the defect of inconvenient implementation, but due to the fact that the square area is too large, when different people estimate the same sample prescription, great differences exist, and the accuracy of coverage detection is affected.

and adding and summing the coverage of a certain species in each cell to obtain the coverage of the species in the grassland sample investigation area to be detected.
The counting of the number of the small squares with the coverage of 0.5 and 1 according to species specifically comprises the following steps:
if the ratio of the total area of the vertical projection of a certain species in a small square grid to the total area of the small square grid is more than 0.5, recording the coverage of the species in the small square grid as 1;
if the ratio is not greater than 0.5, marking the coverage of the species in the small square as 0.5;
the number of small squares with a coverage of 0.5 and 1 was counted for different species.
The grassland sample investigation area to be detected is 1m multiplied by 1m grassland investigation square, and the divided small squares with the same size are 100 small squares with the size of 10cm multiplied by 10 cm.
