Abstract

A wear member assembly can include a nose that attaches to the edge of the blade. The nose may include a rear portion having a first set of surfaces that converge toward a longitudinal axis of the nose toward a distal end of the rear portion. The first set of surfaces may include a first subset of surfaces having an upper and lower surface, a second subset of side surfaces, and a third subset of surfaces. The third subset of surfaces may be angled and located between the first subset of surfaces and the second subset of surfaces. The nose may include a front portion positioned forward of the rear portion. The front part may have a second set of surfaces that converge towards the longitudinal axis of the nose towards the distal end of the front part. The second set of surfaces may include a fourth subset having a top and bottom surface, a fifth subset of side surfaces, and a sixth subset of surfaces. The sixth subset of surfaces may be angled and positioned between the first subset of surfaces and the second subset of surfaces. The nose may further include an intermediate portion disposed between the rear portion and the front portion. The intermediate portion may include a number of cross-sectional surfaces that is different from a number of surfaces of the front cross-sectional portion and the rear cross-sectional portion. The wear member assembly may also include a wear member having a cavity that opens toward a rear end, the cavity including bearing surfaces corresponding to at least some of the front and rear surfaces of the nose.
