Abstract

The protective cover for a coin or postage stamp, for use by numismatics or philatelists is made from three plastics layers welded together. The middle layer (3) holding the coin(7) or stamp is opaque and the two outer layers(2,4) are transparent. The top layer (2) is torn off for access to the contents. Incorporated in the edges of the layers are graphic elements as a guarantee of authenticity as in the manner of a credit card. The graphic elements can form a hologram(11) or plastics strips (10) which can be parallel to the longitudinal edges or at right angles to them or diagonal. ADVANTAGE - Good protection.

In pratica queste transazioni si presentano laboriose perchè deve essere controllata preventivamente l'esistenza, per ogni 20 singolo pezzo, delle caratteristiche, anche numismatiche o filateliche, vantate non soltanto dal venditore ma dalla leggenda della moneta, medaglia, lingotto e simile o del francobollo. Tali caratteristiche sono ad esempio: la lega, il titolo, il peso ed il valore nonché il tipo della moneta, della medaglia o del lingotto 25 ed altro. Si deve inoltre controllare tra l'altro che il pezzo di metallo prezioso non abbia perso in misura evidente la lucentezza e la specularità proprie del pezzo fior di conio o comunque preparato; in pratica si deve verificare con criteri soggettivi su ogni pezzo, a diritto e a rovescio, l'assenza di rigature, am-3o maccature e simili o di altri dequalificanti segni di usura a causa della circolazione. Ovviamente la qualità era ineccepibile nei pezzi all'atto della loro emissione e garantita dall'ente coniatore o preparatore o quanto meno dall'ente distributivo primo venditore al pubblico, solitamente una banca o un ente numismati-35 co. Però nel corso della circolazione successiva tale garanzia di autenticità e di inalterata qualità di conio ovviamente veniva meno, da una parte perchè detta circolazione offriva l'occasione a malintenzionati di spacciare pezzi falsi, aventi cioè caratteristiche di minor pregio di quelle indicate dalla leggenda, e d'al-40 tra parte perchè i pezzi, ancorché nel metallo originario, cominciavano a subire difetti estetici per usura nel corso della circolazione stessa.
