Abstract
Composition, which is very easy to granulate, effective against all kinds of snails, resistant to mould, suitable for use in greenhouses, and very highly attractive to snails, contains fine bran or vermiculite (pref. 1kg) as carrier, fodder meal (pref. 80-150g) as binding agent, fodder bone meal (opt. aromatized, pref. with aniseed or oil of anise) (pref. 30-80g) as bait, and an active component (e.g. metaldehyde, CuSO4 and/or kainite, pentabromophenol, sodium pentachloropnenolate, 2,4,6-triiodophenol or 2,4,6-tribromophenol) (pref. 50-100g).
Description

Snail control preparations
The invention relates to a snail control agent which is characterized in that it contains fine bran or vermiculite as a carrier, feed meal as a binding agent, optionally flavored feed bone meal as a bait and an active component.
A feed bone meal, which is flavored with aniseed, is preferably used as the bait substance, and one of the known active substances, which usually contain metaldehyde or a copper compound, is used as the active component. The preferred proportions per kilogram of carrier are: 80 to 150 g of binder, 30 to 80 g of bait and 50 to 100 g of active component.
It has been found that, on the one hand, fine bran, which is produced when processing the pre-cleaned grains and contains the cellulose skins on the surface of the grain, is a good carrier because it is a food for the snail. On the other hand, vermiculite, which is a hydrated magnesium-aluminum-iron silicate, has proven itself as a carrier substance because it is very light in the expanded or exfoliated form and can bind the aqueous solution of an active ingredient or other components to more than ten times its own weight. In addition, vermiculite is chemically neutral and can be added to basic or acidic substances. Commercially available types can be used as feed meal, which also applies to feed bone meal, which can be flavored for greater attraction.
The preferred flavoring agent is aniseed or aniseed oil, which has a strong attraction on the snails. All known active ingredients can be used as active components in the snail control agent composed according to the invention, such as metaldehyde, copper vitrol and / or kainite, pentabromophenol, sodium pentachlorophenolate, 2,4,6 triiodophenol and 2,4,6-tribromophenol.
The snail control agent can be granulated very easily and is particularly suitable for controlling all types of snails, including dew and night snails. The granules are rainproof and do not get moldy. The agent can also be used in greenhouses and exerts a previously unattainable attraction on the snails.
