Description

Folding tripod The present invention relates to a folding tripod, characterized in that it comprises a vertical support tube on the periphery of which are fixed three equidistant pairs of vertical flanges, each of the pairs of flanges forming the branches of a clevis to which is articulated, by means of a pivot, the upper end of one of the tripod's legs, and a ring sliding on the support tube and presenting on the lower side three jaws, each of which penetrates between the branches respective of one of the yokes to serve as a stop at the upper end of the corresponding leg,

the whole being arranged so that after lifting the ring to release the nozzles from the yokes, then pivoting the legs around their respective articulation axis to bring them parallel to the support tube and after replacing the ring in its original position, the folded tripod is ready to be transported. The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the folding tripod, object of the invention.

Figs. 1 to 3 are views of the tripod in the unfolded position, of which fig. 1 is a vertical section of part of the tube with the sliding ring and a deployed foot; fig. 2, a plan section, along the broken line II-II of FIG. 1, and fig. 3, a cross section, taken along the line 1111-111 of FIG. 1. FIG. 4 is a view of a detail of the support tube. Fig. 5 is a plan view of FIG. 4.

Fig. 6 is a detail view of the sliding ring. Fig. 7 is a plan view of FIG. 6. FIG. 8 is a partial elevational view of the tripod in the folded position.

In the embodiment shown, the folding tripod comprises a support tube 1 at the periphery of which are fixed, for example by welding, three equidistant pairs of flanges, such as the flanges 2, 2 ', forming the branches of' a yoke 3 (fig. 4 and 5). The three yokes 3, 4 and 5 are each provided with a pivot 6 (Fig. 1 to 3), consisting of a bolt, on which is articulated a leg 7 of the tripod.

On the periphery of the support tube 1 is mounted a ring 8 sliding along said tube. The ring 8 has on the lower side three nozzles 9, 9 'and 9 "(fig. 6 and 7), intended to penetrate into the yokes 3, 4 and 5 respectively, and interconnected at their upper part, for example by welding, by spacers 10, 10 'and 10 "respectively, in the form of circular arcs. When the tripod is unfolded, the jaws 9, 9 'and 9 "serve as a stopper for the legs 7, the upper ends of which are cut into a twin bucket, as shown in Fig. 1. To fold the tripod for transport, the ring 8 is lifted by sliding it ser along the tube 1 until the nozzles are free from the yokes.

Then the legs 7 are rotated in the direction indicated by the arrow f in FIG. 1, until they occupy a position parallel to the tube, as shown in fig. 8, the ring being lowered to its initial position.

The folding tripod is intended for multiple applications. On the support tube can be mounted, for example, a signaling device, such as a lamp, a disc or a folding table. It can also be used as a staff, telescope, geodetic device or other similar portable instruments.
