Description

Vehicle headlight support device. The present invention relates to a device for supporting the headlights of vehicles such as, for example, motor vehicles or motorcycles, etc.

It comprises a part intended to be fixed to a rigid support and integral with the vehicle and on which is articulated a second part intended to serve as a support for at least one headlight, the second part being subjected to the action of a spring as well as 'to that of a control organ by means of which it can be pivoted on its axis against the action of the spring, with a view to temporarily modifying the position of the headlight (s) which it supports.

The drawing . attached represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 shows the headlight and the components of the device in their normal position; Fig. 2 shows the same parts when the control cable is actuated: The device comprises an annular part 10 split and provided on either side of the slot with two ears 11 through which a bolt 12 passes with a locking nut. clamping which allows the part to be fixed on a rigid support 13 which is integral with the vehicle.

The part 10 has a lateral arm 14 as well as two arms 15..on which is articulated on an axis 16 a part 17 similar to the part 10, also split and provided on either side of its ear slot 18 tra paid by a bolt 19 provided with a tightening nut which makes it possible to fix firmly in this part a rod 20 integral with a headlight 21. The part 17 is provided with a lateral arm 22 similar to the arm 14 and between these two arms a spring 23 is arranged which tends to keep the device continuously in the position shown in FIG. 1.

The free end of the arm 22 is provided with a housing intended to receive the end of a Bowden cable and the free end of the arm 14 carries an adjusting screw 25 drilled axially and traversed by the control cable 24. The adjustment screw 25 is used to adjust the tension of the cable 24.

The operation of this device is as follows: Assuming that the device is used to support one of the headlights of a motor vehicle, and that for example for a crossing of an oncoming car, the driver wants to avoid in order to this vehicle the dazzling effect of the headlights, it pulls the cable 24 so as to move the arm 22 with the part 17 in the position shown in fig. 2, so that the light beam from the headlight will no longer be directed horizontally forward, but will be inclined so as to illuminate the ground immediately in front of the vehicle.

As soon as the traction exerted on the cable 24 ceases, the spring 23 returns the parts of the device and the headlight to the position shown in FIG. 1.

The cable 24 can for example be controlled by means of a lever or a net ma fixed on the panel of the vehicle near the driver.

The device could be controlled only by a cable, for example electromagnetically.
