Abstract
Wireless headphones that allows the user to listen to a signal transmitted from a low power consumption portable FM transmitter that can be plugged into conventional portable (or in full size) receiver/amplifier or cassette, Compact Disc player. This eliminates the use of interconnecting wires. Both headphones and transmitter may be tuned to a certain number of different frequencies to allow multiple users in the same area.
Description
Title: Wireless headphones with portable FM transmitter abstract:
Wireless headphones that allows the user to listen to a signal transmitted from a low power consumption portable FM transmitter that can be plugged into conventional portable(or in full size) receiver/amplifier or cassette, Compact Disc player. This elimin:~tçs the use of interconnecting wires. Both headphones and transmitter may be tuned to a certain number of different frequencies to allow multiple users in the same area.
Specification:
This invention relates generally to the field of accessories for audio devices and to the field of cordless audio devices.
If one wished to listen to audio from a audio source without inconveniencing others then that person would use headphones or earphones and interconnecting wires, or just recently wireless infra-red headphones (Patent application number 2012487).
Headphones with cable are cumbersome because they limit the range of the user and the cord becomes a hazard. Wireless infra-red headphones solve the problem but the transmitter is big and is not portable, and infra-red does travel through the Hunan body making the position of the transmitter very important.
I have found that wireless headphones with a low-power portable FM transmitter would solve theses problems. The feature that allows the headphones and transmitter to be set at different frequencies would allow multiple users in a small area.
The low-power wireless headphone in composed of two main parts: The headset (Figure 1) and the low-power consumption portable transmitter (Figure 2).
The headset (1) is comprised of two pads and two speakers. The headset has threecontrols: a volume control switch (6), an on/off switch (7) and a frequency/channel control(15). The batteries(3) powering the headset are housed in (4) mounted on said headset. The headset also includes an whip-type antenna (5).
The second part of the system is a low-power consumption portable transmitter (Figure 2). This transmitter has a phono plug (mono or stereo depending on the choose of the maker) that plugs into the headphone jack of a conventional receiver/amplifier, cassette or Compact Disc player. An antenna transmits the audio signal. It could be a wire antenna (11) or a whip-type antenna(10). The power is provided by the use of batteries (9).
From Figure 3, you can see the output from the conventional receiver/amplifier, cassette and Compact Disc player is passed through a low-power FM transmitter that modulates the signal to a desired frequency that can be set by the user from a pre-determined selection, by turning the channel nob ( 15). The signal is then transmitted through an antenna.
The signal is then received by the antenna on the headphones (Figure 4). Then passed through a FM receiver that must be tuned to the same frequency as the transmitter.
Then the demodulated output is passed through an amplifier and then sent to the speakers.
