método para produzir um composto derivado de acetil-coa heterólogo a presente divulgação relata o uso de compostos de pantotenato como um interruptor não genético para a produção de compostos derivados de acetil-coa heterólogo em células hospedeiras microbianas. a invenção provê microrganismos geneticamente modificados que são mais estáveis quando armazenados e cultivados inicialmente sob concentrações reduzidas de pantotenato, meio de cultura de célula tendo concentrações reduzidas de compostos de pantotenato e métodos para produzir compostos hacd usando o meio de cultura de célula e os microrganismos geneticamente modificados da invenção.
