Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of formula (I) wherein said process comprises a) reacting a compound of formula (ii) wherein x is chlorine or bromine with an organometallic species to form (iii). ) wherein x is chlorine or bromine; reacting halobenzine with a fulveno (iv); (iv) to form a compound of formula (v); (v) wherein x is chlorine or bromine; b) hydrogenate (v), in the presence of a suitable metal catalyst, to form a compound of formula (vi) wherein x is chlorine or bromine; and one of c1) reacting the compound of formula (vi) with nh -3 in the presence of a catalyst comprising palladium and at least one binder to form the compound of formula (vii) d) reacting the compound of formula (vii) in the presence of a base with a compound of formula (viii); (viii) to form the compound of formula (i); or c2) reacting the compound of formula (vi) in the presence of a copper catalyst and a binder with the compound of formula (vii); (viiia) to form the compound of formula (i).
