Abstract

Ink for writing on black boards, glass, polyethylene etc. comprising a pigment, a resin, a volatile org. solvent and a non-volatile org. liq. which can form hydrogen bonds with the resin. Specified non-volatile liq. are ethylene, propylene, trimethylene, hexylene glycols butanediol, diethyleneglycol, thiodiethyleneglycol, tri-tetra-and poly-ethyleneglycol, polypropylene glycol, the monoethyl ether or di- or tri-ethylene glycol, or glycerol. Pref. volatile solvents are alcohols, ketones, esters, or aromatic hydrocarbons. The ink may also contain a hydrophobic hydrocarbon, specif kerosine, of b.p. 180-260 degrees C and viscosity 4 cps. Pigments are pref. of size 0.01-0.3 mu. Pref. resins are cellulose derivs. vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer, polyvinylbutyral, polyacrylates, maleic modified rosin or ketone resins. Pref. quantities are 5-10% pigment, 3-10% resin, 70-90% volatile solvent, 5-10% non-volatile liq. and opt. 3-10% hydrophobic hydrocarbon.
