Abstract
Welded steel axial compensating devices for the thermal widening of pipelines and heat exchangers has two symmetric shells whose edges curve up and down, either inwards or outwards. The adjacent exterior areas are welded and a straight intermediate piece is set between the upper and the lower bend. The radius of the upper bend is less than that of the lower. Between the two shells is a short straight transit zone which sloped inwards in relation to the bend of the compensator.
