Abstract
The invention relates to a cyclone for separating fine particles from a stream of gas, especially soot from the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. According to the invention, a spray electrode (10) electrically insulated from the pure gas outlet (9) is fitted in the cyclone and the latter is electrically connected to the casing (2) of the cyclone. It is also proposed that an insulator (11) bearing the spray electrode (10) be secured inside the casing (2) at a distance from the pure gas outlet (9). The invention also relates to cyclones having an immersion pipe (8) and is applicable with advantage to both return and axial flow cyclones.
