-1 S0 The present invention relates to clotheslines, and in particular, to an attachment which is able to be applied to a clothesline to enable items of clothing and manchester to be suspended for drying.
When hanging clothes or manchester on clotheslines in order that the clothes and manchester are dried, it is preferable to use pegs or some like attachment means to securely attach the articles of clothing or manchester to the line. This means that there is a limitation on how the clothes are suspended and the location thereof.
It is also the case that a normal clothesline or clothes drying stand are innapropriate for certain locations and application.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improvement in clotheslines which enables items of clothing or manchester to be suspended without the use of peg or attachment means, and/or to replace existing clotheslines.
35 According to one aspect of the present invention there is disclosed a o a clothesline device comprising a body having attachment means which is used a@ Q to suspend the body, wherein the body has a plurality of apertures located therein, the apertures being used to secure items of clothing, manc, ester or the like to be suspended from said device, wherein the apertures have a wedging means to secure the clothes or the like in the apertures.
Some embodiments of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a clothesline device of the preferred embodiment, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a clothesline device of a second *t embodiment; and a Fig. 3 is a front view of a clothesline device of a third embodiment.
In the embodiments illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings, a clothesline device 1 comprises a rectangular body 2 in which a plurality of apertures 3 are located along its length. At the top 4 of the body 2, an edging bead 4 is located. The edging strip 4 includes three clipping arrangements 5 which are used to clip or attach the device 1 to a clothesline or the like. Naturally, the number of clipping arrangements can be varied according to requirements and the clipping arrangement 5 can be attached to any type of anchoring point as required.
As seen from the Fig. 1, the apertures 3 are arranged in two offset rows and are arranged completely along the length of the device 1. The I1 -2- HRF/3380U apertures 3 have inverted tear-shapes with a slit 6 located below, whereby the items of clothes can be inserted through the larger diameter hole and then wedged in the slit 6 at the bottom part of the aperture 3.
In use, the device 1 is either suspended from a clothesline or any other position if a clothesline is not available. A number of devices can be used, or naturally, the device 1 can be of indeterminate length according to requirements. The device 1 can be used indoors or outdoors as required.
In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 2, the device 1 is of a longer length and has a wire 7, preferably made from metal, running along the length of the edging strip 4. The wire 7 is to add strength to the device I over the longer length. The wire 7 is also able to be attached at the end points of the device 1 whereby the device 1 is suspended from these S points to form a line in itself. This embodiment is used when there is no clothesline available for the device to be attached thereto. In this o a embodiment the use of the clipping arrangements 5 is optional.
In another embodiment illustrated in Fig. 3, the body 2 of the device 1 has a greater vertical length and as such is able to be used when drying a number of smaller items. This embodiment has the advantage that it can be used indoors or outdoors and can be wrapped or rolled up and moved from or.. e one location to another.
The foregoing describes only one embodiment of the present invention, and modifications obvious to those skilled in the art can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present invention.
