Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Scent Release Packaging The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: Scent Release Packaging This invention relates to the improvement in packaging to allow the scent of products in our case being soap) to be able to be smelled through the packaging, but at the same time, not have the product exposed to contaminants. At the present, no one has applied this device.
What we have invented is the ability to have the products totally protected but allow the flexibility of allowing the scent of the products to be able to be released from a simple squeeze mechanism applied on the packaging.
In our case, we have applied this new packaging to our hand made soaps. At present, soap is a product that is sold on the merits of its visual appeal and the way it smells.
The limitation with current packaging is that both important criteria (being visual and scent) is compromised. Either you have the product properly protected; therefore satisfying the criteria of visual appeal but the scent is compromised. Otherwise, in the 00 other case, the soap is naked or partially wrapped or packaged which allows the scent 0 o to be smelled, but not properly protecting the product from dust or contaminants.
We have designed a packaging that satisfies both criteria. That is, to protect the product in a hard packaging case and allow the scent to be released when pressure is applied to the packaging.
OWe have achieved this through the use of two sliding covers that comes together Oto form a box. One cover slides into the other. On one side of the cover, it has a 0 spring like mechanism or tab that flex when pressure is applied to it. We have cut out Oholes in both parts of the covers that when at a relax state, are misaligned to each other. When force is applied to both side of the packaging, the two sides comes together and the holes align. This then allows the scent to be released out of the box.
When the pressure is stopped, the flexible tag springs back and forces the two sides of the packaging back to its original state. At this point, the holes are again misaligned and the product is protected once again.
