Description

\O
Title: Call To Action Lockout (CTAL) Z Synopsis: a method by which to regulate, control and capture responses to call-to-action O prompts to media received by a mobile device.
This innovation relates to a system and method "Call To Action Lockout" (CTAL) to control 00 5 the availability and timing of call-to-actions or responses by a viewer to media such as text, Maudio, video or image received on a mobile device such as cellular phone, PDA or other wireless terminal device(s).
The system and method described herein addresses the above by providing an innovative cl 10 and effective way to regulate, control and capture call-to-action responses to the received media.
This is accomplished by inter-relating the media with control points. For the purposes of this description we'll call these control points the CTAS (Call-To-Action Script). The control points may be embedded in the advertising media or a separate file or data that is either delivered in conjunction with the advertising media or acquired on demand when the viewer or associated media player calls the media to be played.
The control points may be referred to by a system developer in associating available actions or responses based on application programming.
The CTAS is acquired and read by the media player (application) or interface application.
These control points are then made available by an API (Application Programmable Interface) where the developer is free to use them in the same or related application for managing Call To Action events such as voting, entering a code to win a prize, answer a question, submitting user information to join a game, receive products or any interaction that might be timed or controlled.
The CTAS data is independent of the media data, however the media data is dependent upon the CTAS data in that control over the media player application and user interface is managed by the CTAS. So, the media itself will not or cannot play with out the CTAS.
As the media is played, CTAS triggered events allow the user to interact or receive additional information dependent upon how the media player or interface is programmed. In this way, the user must view a designated time of the media before appropriate Call To
\O
Action events are triggered.
O
Z Scenario: An advertiser wishes to deliver brand pertinent media to a target recipient. The advertiser then wishes to provide a 'call to action' function at the end of the media that allows a response to the media and captures response information. The goals are: a) Encourage target to watch, view or listen to entire advertising message M' b) Provide some incentive to the target to encourage brand loyalty and continued 00 M' participation c) Provide additional brand message(s) and ongoing solicitation 45 Capture response information

Claims (4)

1. An interactive application interface control system is regulated or controlled by an associated data file that contains marker tags or timed scripts known as the "control 00 5 points". The media player is stored locally or communicated electronically to provide Mnecessary functional data. An input file may be of any data format readable by the Smedia player and includes control points based on a timing track, counter or actual parsing of the data received by the media player. When a control point is reached a "Call To Action Lockout Script" (CTALS) which inter-relates media with a user response mechanism via the use of the control points will be executed.
2. An interactive application interface control system of claim 1, whereby a user response mechanism maybe in the form of a question, poll, competition entry, feedback and data collection.
3. An interactive application interface control system of claim 1, whereby the CTALS regulates, controls and captures user responses to call-to-action prompts that are part thereof or follow any media content (such as text, audio, video or streaming media) that is received and displayed on a mobile device.
4. An interactive application interface control system of claim 1, whereby the media data file is received via pre-loading, Over-the-Air (OTA) downloads and/or streaming. An interactive application interface control system of claim 1, whereby the CTALS mechanism is transmitted via SMS, MMS, WAP, GPRS and other Over-the-Air (OTA) transmission methods will enables a users response to a call to action to be captured and exported to a storage device.
