Description
SPECIFICATION ATTACHMENT TO INNOVATION PATENT APPLICATION Log Rotator "True View" Description The Log Rotator "True View" is a system developed by Acora Reneco Group to give an operator a true indication of what a log scanning system decided the correct rotation angle was for a log when it was making a decision for log sorting.
In many applications, logs are scanned in the log yard to sort them for either a cutting pattern or diameter solution. The sorted logs are then taken into the sawmill and the logs rotated again either by another scanner/turner or a by a log rotator controlled by an operator. In either case, the problem becomes, which way did the log yard scanner assume the rotation angle of the log when making its sort decision.
The "True View" system, takes the scanner information from the log scanning system (this ability may exist on the scanner or can be added as part of this system) and deduces from this, at which angle the scanning software was electronically orientating the log in order to satisfy the sort criteria. This angle is then passed on to a spray unit which consists of multiple paint spray nozzles that rotate a spray head to coincide with the rotation angle determined by the scanner and thus sprays an mark on the log indicating that this is the top of the log when it has been rotated to the angle that was determined for sorting.
Therefore, when the log is eventually loaded onto the sawmill infeed log haul, the operator can easily determine the correct orientation of the log by rotating it until the paint line faces upward, thus the conrect breakdown solution is achieved the installation of a laser line to indicate true vertical is an optional part of the system.
